Thick hair woes...somewhat long, but postive commentary would be nice. :)

I was washing my hair the other day and I really got the gist of how bad my overprocessed ends were. I had no idea! All my life I've had some overprocessed hair, because some people truly don't know how to handle hair as thick as mine. Stupid beauticians have even put relaxer all over my hair SEVERAL TIMES, thinking it wouldn't hurt. I was ignorant and had no idea it was bad, but my mom did know, but continued to let them do it when I was in my early teens. She's so docile, and sometimes she would know beauticians were doing wrong, but wouldn't say a thing. I had to learn to speak for myself, once I knew. The real damage is in front FROM WHAT I SEE. I have about 2 inches of overprocessed hair on my neck length hair. I saw this when it was wet recently. The brown frizzy ends stick out. You would think the roots would be frizzy? I wasn't sad though. :yep: This may sound weird, but I also noticed about two - two and a half inches of jet black roots. The relaxer that did most of the damage was done in mid March of this year. This may seem trivial to some, but that much growth is so much to me. I've never had shoulder length, but now that I see my hair actually does grow when it's not overprocessed. Sure, it will be a hassle dusting those overprocessed ends for months, and trying to preserve them as usual, I'm still so happy. Yeah, I know, this might seem so incidental to you BSL and APL folks, but this gives me hope. I had a bald spot that would not grow AFTER FIVE MONTHS, but after I used my self-made concotion and massaged it from y'all's advice it finally grew. All of my hair was overprocessed, but thinks to low-maintenance styles like braidouts over the summer it grew and inch and a half. I've came a long ways thanks to y'all, and that's why I can't really be mad. I'm going to reach my goal of shoulder length one day, if I continue to be vigilant like I have since the bald spot incident. All my damage is just motivation to continue.

I like your positive spin!

You will have shoulder length hair before you know it. It's all about retention. You may have some bumps along the way, we all do, but you'll get there if you keep up the healthy hair practices that you've learned.:yep:
