i know so many of you love amla but i just had to say that it is wonderful!!!!:yay: i usually use it as a prepoo mixed with my conditioner and i have it in my spray bottle mixed with distilled water. this week i have been wearing my natural hair down, i usually wear it up. well....of course thru the course of the day my hair puffs up a bit:lol: but right before bed i moisturize with aveda usc & brilliant serum and spritz with my spray bottle and wrap. once its wrapped, i mist the wrap especially the ends, just lighty. every morning my hair is so silky and the ends looks so soothed. my hair is all smooth again also!!! absolutely no need to use or WANT to use the flat iron:grin: . i am so amazed by this.
what are your experiences with amla oil? how do you use it and what changes have you noticed since using?

I use it as a pre-poo. The night before I wash: i apply Dabur Amla Oil to my hair and put a shower cap and a towel around my head a go to sleep. When I wake up in the morning and wash my hair: my hair is so soft. My hair feels like I'm washing out a relaxer and my hair is silky. It makes my hair easier to comb: my hair doesn't get tangling as much either. I love it too: Thanks D. Lewis

I bought some awhile back to use with my henna but it wasn't until I saw D.lewis's fabolous pics that I really committed to useing it. I have a cheaper brand of it and it is still wonderful. I can't imagine what the good stuff works like.

I have a question - the Amla I have has quite a smell. SO does NOT like it. I used to pre-poo with it over night, or put some on my ends, but he really doesn't like it. It gets to me too, actually. Does Dabur have an odour at all? I recently discovered where to buy it, but I don't want to waste my money if its the same thing..... suggestions??

i dont know. maybe someone will chime in about that. i use amla oil from fromnaturewithlove. it does have a bit of an aroma:lol: but i havent been noticing lately because i mixed it with coconut oil OR maybe i got used to it now:look:

I use mine as a pre-poo too and ABSOLUTELY love it. I found a cap at the BSS that seals in your body heat so I wear that with it for a few hours and when I rinse it out my hair is so soft and siky. It's definitely a staple. I've been using it for a couple months now and notice how eaier it is to detangle my hair and the softness. I also have the powder which I've mixed with Henna and used alone but it seems to be so drying to the hair. Does anyone use the powder as part of your regimen? How do you use it (i.e. w/henna or something else, alone, etc.)?

I have the Dabur and it has a 'different' kind of smell..but it doesn't smell bad to me at all. I'm starting to like the smell.

I use the Dabur as a prepoo mixed with Shikakai and conditioner or just mixed with conditioner and it makes it easier to detangle my hair before washing. I rarely use it alone anymore because I'm heavyhanded and I think I was using it up too fast.

Hey monilove ot: Can you give us some insight on this cap you bought at the bss???

Hey, I don't know who makes it because I bought it a couple months ago but whatever it's made out of apparently traps in your body heat. It says on the package that it's for cream deep conditioning but I use it for pre-poos and anything else I want to use to penetrate my hair. The one I have is gold but I think it comes in Red too. I'm going to the BSS probably tomorrow after work so if I see it, I'll write down all of the info and post it.

I love Amla Oil. I believe I use Dabur too and I don't notice a smell.

Anyway, I have prepooed overnight with it and for 1-2 hours and the silkiness has been the same for me. I haven't really noticed a difference so imo it may not be necessary to keep it on overnight.

Yep, that's it. It's awesome, with moisturizing conditioners I put it on and tie a scarf on my head to sleep in it. And I can really tell it worked because my hair is warm when I take it off.

My SO can not be anywhere near me when I use the Dabur Amla oil. We agree that it smells like a baby diaper. But, hey, it works wonders, doesn't it?

OT: Moni your makeup is so pretty and flawless.

Thanks :D . Former makeup artist and was at a family function so tried to look decent. I can slam my face but I've gotten so lazy these days, LOL. :ohwell:

i mist it on my hair mixed with water. just today when i got home i pulled my hair back in a ponytail and spritz the tail with my amla and water and its sooooooo soft. i'm just totally floored by this:grin: i would have been using for multi purposes a long time ago!!!

You look good dear!!

Amla is definitely a keeper :yep: I like to mix it with brahmi oil. I rotate this as a hot oil pre-poo every other week and I can instantly feel a difference in my hair after using it.

yeah I have the Amla oil too..I cannot STAND the scent!!! its horrible to me. i've mixed it with coconut oil and it did nothing...the thing i hate about it is that it lingers!

But it works wonders

I would suggest trying the FNWL brand. It's definitely doesn't have the strong fragrance of the Dabur brand and it doesn't have the mineral oil either.
