The nitty gritty of transitioning

Hi ladies,

I have a friend that has decided to transition and I want to offer her a "handbook" of advice and since I've never transitioned I was hoping that you all could give some basic do's & don't and product recs that could be kept in this one thread for those who may decide to transition in the future.

Here are a few that I've seen mentioned around here:

-S-curl spray for new growth
-Wear braid extensions or cornrows for style options
-Co-washing 3-4 times helps manage new growth

- when washing, drench hair in conditioner, and detangle with a wide tooth comb
- for braidout/twistouts drench hair in conditioner after washing and seal with coconut oil then style
- moisturise!

- light protein treatments weekly or fortnightly to avoid hair breaking

Oh that's a good one.

Light protein's include:
Aubrey Organics GPB
ORS Mayo
Motions CPR
Nexxus Keraphix
ApHOGEE 2-min reconstructor
Redken Rescue Force
Joico Kpak conditioner
Elasta Qp Breakage Control Serum
Motions Silk Protein

shower combs and a denman will be your friend...
cowashes are great for moisture...
be CAREFUL with that line of demarcation...
the less manipulation, the better...
i flat ironed and bunned every day for 2 weeks - great way to keep your hands out of your hair...
bantu knots/braidouts/twistouts are all helpful blending styles...
a goal BC date is not necessary, since you might end up getting an urge one night...
the real fun begins when your natural hair gets longer than the relaxed part!
