The new stylist BROKE my hair

I FEEL soo sick right now. All my progress is down the drain. The worst part is that it wasn't even my fault. Last relaxer i tried a different stylist and i had a feeling she didn't neutralize me right (she only neutralized me one time). I was nervous, I even posted about it. But a few people reassured me so i was certain that i wouldn't have any breakage. Lo and behold 3 weeks later (yesterday) i noticed gaps in my hair when wet. When my hair dried i still seen gaps. I washed it just now and sectioned each section and i see SEE THRU ends. Its clearly breakage because it wasn't there before. I am too seconds away from cutting my hair..and if it continues to thin i am going natural. Heres a pic..Someone cry with me http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/foxybronx/detail?.dir=/fa68&.dnm=1a1f.jpg&.src=ph

Oh girl, I feel for you! She really did mess you up. My suggestion....perhaps consider the BC. It's not as bad as you think. Short hair is fun and sexy! Take my word and see my album. It's something every woman should do in their lifetime. And, a word of advice. Try to self relax. I finally succeded today and I'm feeling great. Mind you I've had my hair jacked up by stylist and I've underprocessed 2 times. But nothing feels as good as taking your hair care into your own hands.

Awwww, foxy, I hate that you've had this setback. I'm crying with you

don't cut it. First try to strengthen your hair...try a good protien treatment, followed up with a really good moisturizer... If all else fails. maybe cut your hair into layers... don't give up hope though....

oh noooo! Foxy, please don't do anything right now. Just wait and seriously think through your options.
this is so terrible

oh say it aint so foxy! Ive followed your progress since before I ever even got serious about my own hair, back in BHSGO days!

If I were u I would cut a couple of inches or so, get some serious treatments, and see if it gets back on track. I would go back to the salon and show them what they did and demand that they compensate u in some way too.

You have the proof in your pics that your hair wasnt like that before. Whether its a refund for your service or free treatments to stop the breakage. Im so sorry this happened to u. I hope u can stop the breakage and get your hair back.

I honestly understand how you feel I also suffered a similar situation last fall. I ended up cutting my hair off short as well. It was the best thing I did for my hair, because trying to hang on to damaged hair is never a benefit. Do yourself a favor and get a nice cute cut and show it off to all of us here. It doesn't take long to see progress.

I SECOND THAT...CALM DOWN FIRST AND THEN DECIDE.

Why not just have the damaged parts of your hair cut? I really don't see a need for you to cut all your hair off. At least I did not go that extreme. Like Keylargo suggested I would not do anything drastic now since you are obviously upset.

That stylist who did the chemical damage needs to have his or her license pulled!

OMG...I am so sorry this happened!!
Keylargo is right...make no decision while you're upset.

But on another note, do you need backup to beat that stylist down?

Terribly sorry to hear about this mishap. I agree with this advice.:)

Thanks again everyone that shared sympathy and advice..I really do appreciate it. I'm logging off for tonight. I need a distraction away from hair.

I'm crying with you, Foxy!!

Damn these stylists!!!

I seem to be seeing more hair in my comb than usual ever since my stylist mistakenly put a lye relaxer in my hair about a month ago... I did a heavy duty Emergencee treatment tonight... I'm really hoping & praying that I'm not having a setback...

I am so sorry Foxy! I wouldn't do anything for at least a couple of days. Really think about your options first before picking up scissors.

I'm sorry to hear about this too

I think you've gotten excellent advice so far, and like other posters said, DO NOT MAKE ANY RASH DECISIONS

Good luck with everything, sis.

Foxy i'm so sorry to hear this

Here's my advice, if the bottom layer of your hair is the only layer that is damaged-- i say cut the damaged layer it to about 1/2 an inch about the damage, Get a slight trim/cut to the rest of your undamaged hair -- 1/2 inch to 1 inch, then follow all this up with conditioning and strengthening treatments once a week. You will get all kinds of benefits from doing it this way.

Nobody will know that you had to cut your bottom layer short, you will keep your length that you have worked for, your hair will still go into a ponytail-- bottom layer included, your ends will be nice and full from the trim and you will have gotten rid of the damaged hair with the cut. I bet you even feel better than you did before that idiot did your hair. Good luck and sleep on it before making a definite decision -- jainygirl

Good Lawd, Foxy! Why didn't you get back in touch with me? I feel like SH@&$ as I referred the stylist to you.

I've never had a problem with her. If you look in my album, one of my hair inspirations "Jane Doe" goes to her and even another member of this board. They've used her for the last 10 years and haven't had a problem. I wouldn't deliberately send you there to be sabatoged. I don't know what went wrong. I am soooooo sorry this happened and feel even worse as I recommended her to you. She only neutralizes me once as well and I've never had a problem. If it was bothering you and you were nervous, you should have asked for a second shampoo. She wouldn't have mind. I know... shoulda, coulda, woulda.... Every head is different, I guess. My daughter and I both let her relax our hair. See our pics. I wouldn't deliberately send you so someone I didn'thave confidence in. From the depths of my heart, I apologize. As for now, DO NOT CUT YOUR HAIR!!! Start giving it some protein followed by moisturizing treatments. I am sorry!!!

awww foxy, i'm so sorry this happened to you. but whatever you do don't cut your hair. if i were you i'd just trim that part and as time passes i'd keep evening it out.

I know I'm still doing my investigating, but in your previous thread you said she washed it out thoroughly and followed it with the neutralizing shampoo, even though shampooed once. Should I be concerned that my hair will fall out? Is there anything new that you're done or tried on your hair? Have you been bunning recently? How soon after the relaxer did you notice breakage? Foxy, I don't doubt you, but just want an idea of how to prevent this from ever happening again. As you can imagine, I am feeling sick over this whole thing as I sent you there with good intentions....

I am sorry about your hair mishap. Just start using Nexxus Emergencee every time you wash your hair. Do some deep conditioning too, until the breakage stops.

Sorry about your mishap Foxy, I plan on going to a new stylist and I'm getting scared. Maybe you should do an Aphogee treatment.
