You guys see what Im talking about with the 2 toned hair? My natural hair is almost jet black and the relaxed part brown. Makes my updos look weird.

I cannot get a banana clip to close around my hair without breaking. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

I leave some hair out in the back and just pin it up. Even with the thick ones, although it would close, it would be too tight. When I pin the hair I leave out, you can barely tell b/c the bun/ponytail will cover it.

get an applicator bottle and put a good juicy moisturizer in it mixed with some oil. ( a spray bottle will work too but now that I am natural I need that applicator tip to get down in the rootage!):lol: mine has aloe vera gel, KKKT, Hot Six Oil and enough rosewater just to get it to squirt . i try not to make the mixture too wet...more oily if that makes sense?...i apply this to the roots to keep the hair juicy and to keep it from matting..... i have to take my bun down every 3 days though and run some Whipped Jelly through it or else.....hurricane "Knots" rolls through:nono:

Never-mind my newly texlaxed self ladies, I'm just in here lurking for tips for DD.

I also just wanted to reach out and say that this ^^^ is what I did. I put water, AVJ, rose water in a spray bottle to keep DD's ends and hair moist in her 2-strand twist bun and her hair is retaining like crazy. I use this as her liquid in the LCO method. Plus, the mix smells soo darn good!!

@Naturelie
Please share, your hair is gorgeous!

Thanks ShyIntellect! Love your bun too!
My regimen is quite simple: I try not to touch my hair (I'm a natural 4a girl and have never relaxed). I pre-poo with coconut milk or cream (or oïl) and honey, wash and let dry in braids. Then I install twists I take down the other day and make buns on "twist outed" hair. Here is a old picture of the style (before the official beginning of my HHJ).

One day I will get good camera phone pictures. Cropped it to show the hair and pic is all fuzzy. Front is center part.

Not a huge bunning girl (that sounds funny lol), but going through my phone to find some. I usually bun when my previously styled hair is on it's last leg. This one started as a rollerset, then braid out.

This one started as a roller set then bantu knot out.

All of my buns are normally done by creating a high ponytail, separating the hair into 3 sections (one standing straight up and the other 2 sections to the left and right sides), fold the 2 side sections towards the back and pin together, then fold the last section that was standing straight up down and over the side pieces and bobby pin. Hope no one is cross eyed from confusion!
