I'm sorry this is too funny. I too have exposed the guy i'm dating the the wonderful world of hair. He was so proud to tell me that he had a long conversation with a woman on the plane about clip-ins and other options for women that are losing their hair or just want to change up their look--he even told her that not every man cares if a woman is wearing weaves, etc. Now if I could just get him to stop calling it B1 yaka i'd be good lol

Ummm Neith, you've turned that poor man into a hair snob. :look: I wanna laugh too, but if that had been you posting about how some white chick's man called you out on your hair- we'd all be fuming at his tactlessness.

On the hair piece front, you have to be careful- you never know when its someone battling cancer or some other illness where they are losing their hair. :ohwell: He's lucky he didn't run into Precious and ShaQueshiala Jenkins 'nem. What you gone do when he's tellin' folk its time to let go of those ends? Reign him in girl. . . reign him in :nono:

I don't find anything funny. What if that white girl would have been with a group of her white girlfriends and she said, "Look at her nappy hair" or "Look at her weave". There would have been a riot.

Completely rude and not funny at all. :perplexed
Like pp's have said, how would you or your BF react if the white lady said something to you about your hair?

Drinking is no excuse to be mean. DH and I get our drank on out in public on the regular, but we don't use it as an excuse to cut people down. :nono:

ITA. The replies would have been a whoooole lot different; no heehee haha.

ITA. Everybody knows this board would have EXPLODED with responses if the roles were reversed.

You said it nicely. To brag about such immaturity is just :nono:

ETA: I wish a nicca would pull that with me. I almost **** slapped a chick in a club when she tugged on my ponytail to see if it was real. Yeah.....the whole black woman can't have long hair ish.

Funny, but trutfully yaw'll just keep on with each other; that shows the communication is good between the two of you.

On the down side you may have to start carrying those "Chewy Granola" bars....if ya know what I mean.....

Ummm, I am pretty sure alot of our DHs can spot a weave, good or bad, a mile away! My Dh can spot plenty, it is just not his style to expose them, and he doesn't do it.:nono: ( And dh does not care for weaves) If he said something like that, heck I would have snapped on him!:lachen:

I thought it was funny... still do.

I know may not be PC... and I did say I feel kinda bad for the girl.

I'm a very nice person and considerate to everyone... but NO ONE is perfect. We were tipsy, it just happened.

I wouldn't do that to someone, period. I hit him in the arm when he said it (but still laughed)

He also complimented this guy with a huge afro just a few minutes before the blonde chick.

Also, my bf just happens to be white... as if THAT should make a huge difference. There was no black on white "crime" here.

Forgot to mention... I'm not mad at anyone here.

Sometimes people read into things more than others. Hell, I WAS intoxicated at the time. People do very stupid things because of alcohol.

I even said he was an idiot and something is wrong with him for doing that.

I just found it funny that he even knew she had on a phony pony. I think that my hair stuff is trickling down to him and driving him hair crazy.

did the woman see you laughing ? please tell me no

I don't think so... like I said, she ignored him.

One time some asked me. Is that your hair? I replied, "Yes, Why? did you loose yours?"

A co -worker who really did not know me.

I will have to keep that one fresh in my mind

I hope neither one of you were driving........ Again, if the tables were turned a white dude called you out in a crowd.....how would your boyfriend had reacted?........:ohwell: this was not cool or funny IMO

No, we weren't driving. I still do think it's funny... however even at the time I couldn't do anything to change what he did. I didn't say it and it it was up to me I DO wish he didn't do it.

ITA...Or if a white guy asked if you straighten your hair.:ohwell: Just not cool, IMO! He is luck he didn't say that to a sister! :perplexed

I don't think he would say that to a black woman. As we can see here, things get racial very quickly... even if the motivation behind them isn't racial.

Wow! thats why I don't drink, no offense :)

Good idea! I'd like to say that I'm not a drunk, lol. I drink occasionally. I hadn't had a drink in months before last night.

 See? We're driving the men folk bonkers.

How am I supposed to do that? He's a grown man. I can't control him. I have to take the good with the bad if I decide to be with him.

He is a very good man... not without his faults. Can't change what happened, can't predict when he'll do something dumb.

I don't find anything funny. What if that white girl would have been with a group of her white girlfriends and she said, "Look at her nappy hair" or "Look at her weave". There would have been a riot.

Good point. Nothing like that did happen and I'm happy. :yep:

I didn't actually do anything. I did reprimand him, but he's not my child and I don't have control over his behavior.

Yes, he was plain stupid for saying that. I mean, look at the title. I think he was crazy for doing that drunk or not... even though I do think it was funny the way it played out last night.

You said it nicely. To brag about such immaturity is just :nono:

ETA: I wish a nicca would pull that with me. I almost **** slapped a chick in a club when she tugged on my ponytail to see if it was real. Yeah.....the whole black woman can't have long hair ish.

Ah well... I'll say it again. I know that I'm a very nice person... but I'm not perfect. I may do something wrong now and then (I didn't actually do anything wrong this time)

I may laugh when it's not appropriate sometimes. In fact, if that is the only thing I do that is offensive to others in my whole life I feel that I'm a saint.

I'm ONLY human.

To those that got some laughs from it... hope I lightened your day a little.

To those who are offended, I apologize.

Exactly. I realize that there was alcohol involved, but this could have potentially been a hurtful situation.

I agree with you wholeheartedly and knew exactly what u meant from your original post.It is funny, and I do not see the reason for it to be turned into yet another racial issue.

I swear, sometimes people act like they have never said/done something wrong or inappropriate in their entire life. I see stock has gone up on retractable halo's....

I didn't take your post as anything but lighthearted. I realized from your title and your phrasing in the post that you didn't condone what he said. You were just sharing the story with us. He'll know better next time.... :yep:

Great response...hold ground to YOU!!! It was distasteful, but I see where your coming from.

However, its just like the N word, or the 'Retard' word, we mean nothing by it, per sa, but say it at time in a comical situation. Don't read too much into it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt he was completely out of line for that comment. And then to say it loud as the dickens. Very rude, indeed. But, my bf is a pretentious snob against poor people so...:perplexed

Who does this……? In all my years of wearing weaves, wigs and phony pony has a man, women or child crossed the line like this. IMO it was unnecessary and uncalled for, it’s one thing to talk amongst each other, its another to disrespect any lady like that. I’m embarrassed for her, I can picture myself being in that situation and thinking about it for several days…..

I agree, Kels. :yep: But I knew as soon as I read the post that it was gonna pop off. :nono:

I guess I don't see the big deal either. It was a bit tactless, but it was written as such...funny but tactless. I don't think it was a racial thing.

I remember once I was in the Bahamas on a cruise and it was a very rare time I was wearing extension hair. It was pretty long--like Patra the dancehall queen. (Now, you couldn't tell that it long because it was braided like 3" beyond my own hair, but that's OK). A local island guy walked past me and said "you have horse hair on your head...you should take it out." :drunk::blush::perplexed:look:  That was sort of the order in which my emotions surfaced. At first I was pissed, but I had to laugh because...well, rude as it was, it was true (not that it was horse, but synthetic). Tactless, but if you can't laugh at yourself sometimes...

That's totally where I'm coming from.

I know it wasn't nice, but neither me or my bf are the devil's spawn. It wasn't racially motivated. It also wasn't motivated by any true ill will... it was just a stupid comment that I found to also be funny.

I don't think ur boyfriend said it with the intent of hurting any feelings. However, this is the exact reason why I don't wear phony ponies anymore...I know myself, and if he had said that to me and I had heard him, it would have been nothing nice...

But hey, you live and you learn....
