The following products are horrible.....

on my hair!

1. Nexxus Emergencee
2. KeraCare Shampoo for Dry, Itchy Scalp

I think the Emergencee is too strong because a few days after I use it my hair starts to shed/break off excessively. And the KeraCare Shampoo is TOO drying and my delicate strands come out feeling like straw. I have a few others, but these are the latest culprits to get pitched in the trash. And I'm pissed because I just bought that Emergencee for $16.00! It was a bargain since it is the 10.1fl oz size!

Anyone else wasted money on products that produced disastrous results? Especially my sistahs with fine hair like mine..........sigh. Will I EVER see bra-strap? I've been on this board since 10/03 and I haven't made ANY progress at all. :(

why dont you sell them in the other forum....they obviously work for some ladies here, that way you could at least get SOME of your money back....

I'm starting to wonder if Nexxus product are reaking havoc on my hair also. It seems like since I started using them the shedding has gotten out of control. And my curls seem to be gone in some places.

I am curious here. Did you shampoo again after using the emergencee and followup with a moisturizing conditioner. Ther reason I ask is because emergencee as a protein treatment is very gentle. It was a far cry from the drc 28 and aphogee which caused my hair more breakage than I want to recall.

queen helene cholesterol conditioner did absolutely nothing for my hair but make it hard as a brick.

i used it once and gave it away

Really? I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one. What is your hair type? I guess my is 4A. (I don't have naturally curly, wavy or straight hair) It is not super kinky either---ya know ----looks like stitches or cotton balls.

I didn't re-shampoo after I used it; per the instructions I followed up with a moisturizing conditioner---KeraCare Humecto.

I think you may have an older bottle of emergencee. The directions on my bottle say to shampoo again after the treatment and follow up with a moisturizing conditioner. FYI I was using emergencee over a year ago and experienced awful breakage from it too. Once I started shampooing after the treatment my hair was fine.

I agree with you on that Nexxus Emergencee. It is very harsh and stripping.
I stay far away from it. I also found out the nexxus keraphix was not kind to my hair as well.
It does take time to find the products that go great with your hair. It has taken me years to finally be 98% satisfied with the products that I use.

Older????????? Are you serious????? Maybe I'll give it another try. It is so strange. The shedding and breakage start about 3 days after the treatment.

Keracare hydrating detangling shampoo tore my hair to shreds . I used it consistantly for about a month until I finally realized that it was messing up my hair. It left my hair feeling really slick and dehydrated- like there was something on it. I finally got my hair back to normal.

I am not sure when nexxus started printing new instructions on their bottles of emergencee. I noticed the change about three bottles ago. I had one of the older bottles too and no where did it mention to shampoo again. I found out by being here where other ladies pointed out the change. Otherwise I would have never known. I think shampooing a second time gets rid of any residue left by the treatment.

Queenofmean- I assume I am about a 3a-3b. I am natural. Since I started using nexxus products my hair is all poofed up and some spots have nice curls and other spots are just there. But my hair feels so soft and nice. I am seriously thinking of giving these products up. I am so disappointed because I thought I had finally found my staple products. I am thinking of going back to all natural products.

I find that when I shampoo after the treatment and do a moisturizing treatment, it really gives great results. I prefer this over stinky Aphogee (although Aphogee is better with stopping the breakage immediately).

Sylver, what kind of produts do you use for protein?

I use aphogee. My hair was breaking off last year from an overprocessed relaxer. Used Aphogee once. It stopped breaking immediately and I din't have to use it again.

Does nexxus products have alot of protein in their products? If so, maybe my hair does not like all the protein.

For the ladies having so much trouble with protein in hair products are you guys adding enough moisture to combat the hardening from the proteins??

I used the Carol's Daughter Coco Mango Pineapple Skin Smoothie on my hair as a conditioner because it was recommended on her website and I ended up with clumps of that stuff stuck in my hair after I tried to rinse it out. It was terrible.
