Does anybody streak their hair using the foil tech.? If so please tell me all about it. Or if you know of an easier method of streaking the hair other than that hat, let me know.

gn1g, I have foiled my own hair, but I found it very difficult. I placed a few foils in the front and on the sides, where it's easier to see what I'm doing. Weave out the amount of hair you want streaked and hold it up while you place the foil underneath that section of hair. The foil should be flat against your head and as close to the parting as possible. You then brush the lightener onto that section of hair, as if you were painting. It can really get tricky here because if you do not apply the lightener properly, you will not good results. Once applied, fold the bottom and sides of the foil over the section of hair and allow to process to desired level. Using a frosting cap would be easier and give more consistent results if you're going to do it yourself.

balisi is riright if you plan to do it yourself the cap method is the safe /best way.
If you go to a salon the fiol is used to give a beter natural sunkissed look and different colors are used.

Ive done my own highlights w/the foil. It can be a little tricky but I find it easier than the hat. Maybe I just dont know what I am doing w/the hat but I seemed to be poking myself in the head :perplexed And then trying to pull the hair out of those tiny little holes just wasnt working for me. One of the members here, Honii, has some good pics on how to dye w/the foil and thats what I used to help figure it out. Hopefully she will not mind me posting her fotki. Maybe u can check it out to see if it looks like something u think u can do yourself. I have use it w/success.

Here is Honii's fotki... Thanks Honii

Do you mean the foil method as in literally using foils to color hair, or the foil technique for coloring hair that weaves the highlights in?
