The breakdown of a PJ: It's all GONE!!!

*gasp* Thats a LOT of stuff, soror. Good for you, for having the strength to just "let go." That must have felt very freeing/empowering, to just toss that stuff in those bags.

Have you thrown away the bags yet? Perhaps instead of just disposing of everything you can have a little party (nothing major, a small gathering, like a tea party or whatever) with a few girlfriends/sorors/female relatives..... and let them pick thru what they might want before you throw it away. You know what they say: One man's trash is another man's treasure.

That's a cute idea, but it's all gone, plus I can't seem to stick around long enough to plan something like that. I've just finised traveling 5 weekends in a row, I'm taking night classes till 10 pm two nights a week which get me in the house at 11:30, commute 1.5 hours to work one way, and I am very active in the grad chapter, so you know that's a second job, lol. Seriously, trashing it was the most convienent way with my current schedule to get the stuff out and make some much needed space.

Maybe next time, but this time it had to go NOW....

Plus a lot of stuff was opened or partly used, I really don't feel comfortable donating that kind of stuff when it comes to products for sanitation and expiration reasons.

I do sooo much service on a regular basis, I don't feel bad about missing the boat on this one :)

I hear you... Service is a major part of the Sisterhood, isn't it? At any rate, I'm doing the same thing (it must be the moon...) but I'm attempting to sell as much as I can via my Fotki album. If I don't sell it by next Monday, I, too, will be dumping because enough is enough.

And I wonder about other folks who are looking for a miracle product to grow their hair without real effort (Doo Gro, Super Gro, and the rest)... Don't I do the same thing by buying almost everything I hear about here on the board and elsewhere in an effort to grow my hair? *smh* Shame on me... I'm critical of no one but myself, and certainly in no position to judge anyone else. All I can do is do what's best for me. And I'm very happy you feel good and stand by your decision to clean up and clear out.

Thank you! I considered selling, but I have the WORST time trying to package things up and ship them out on a timely manner due to my schedule. I didn't want to rub any potential buyers the wrong way if I wasn't able to ship something right away. I have no real excuse for having all these products. In my case, I'm not looking for growth products, I guess it's just "curiousity"...I wonder what this does, what does this smell like, how will this moisturize/condition/clean/style my hair compared to that other stuff I have??? We have our reasons for the things we do, as crazy as they may be, lol. I feel really good! It was a great feeling to open up the bottom of my sink and everthing be organized and easy to get to :-D

Soror I totally understand...... I am the same way about old clothes/shoes in my closet. Sometimes i just get so annoyed with how much stuff i have that i dont wear, that just takes up space.... and i get into one of my Spring Cleaning moods and proceed to take a whoooole bunch of clothes out of my closet. They arent necessarily old or raggedy or anything of the like..... just items that i havent worn in years for various reasons (ie, no longer my style, doesnt fit, etc.)

In the beginning, my intentions are always so honorable--I fold and pack everything neatly in plastic bags, with the intentions of walking over to Goodwill to donate. I dont care about the tax write-off, i just hate to see good things go to waste.

But once those bags have sat by my door for weeks at a time.... i know in my heart that im not really going to the thift store. And at that point, i just toss it all into the dumpster, and it feels GOOD to clear up that walk-way and just be free of that mess.

So yeah, lol, I definitely undertstand a busy/hectic schedule and not having the free time/energy to "give" rather than "throw" it away, via Goodwill, a party, whatever. At least the thought crossed your mind, as it crossed mine.... so our intentions were good, even if nothing came of it.

Way to go Girl.
I did the same thing a couple of month ago and I dont give away partially used product either.(trash)
I can tell you giving away free products to some people can get annoying
and they expect you to give them free and expensive products all year long.

in reference to curli lurkers comment i was not trying to make anyone feel bad, i just stated a suggestion.

i have worked in a charity shop voluntary and i know they do not accept partially full products, that is why i suggested the unused products be donated!
hope no harm was done :)

No harm done :) It IS a GOOD suggestion and people should consider this as an option.

well alright im getting sick of looking at the products crowding my table and trying to sell them so so1913 im about to probably do the same thing you just did oh i hope i can do this i was brave enough to put them on here and try to sell them...i have somethings that i know my sister maybe able to use on her hair though and just bag it up and toss it..but im going to really get rid of alot of products...by the time i finish i maybe down to 1/2 a draw of products and that'll just be for my sister because i do her hair...hey thats better than what i have now is 2 draws and under the sink...
