Well, I'm sure you've heard me rave about the Textures & Tones in "Bronze." I love it!! My hair does come out with a color very similar to what it shows on the box, and my natural hair color is very dark brown (almost black).
As for the Honey Blonde, does it come with a "booster?" I think I bought that one time, then chickened out and returned it to the store cuz I was afraid to use the booster. (The booster makes the hair color lift more, I think...)
I believe Tracy said she used the Honey Blonde the first time she did the T&T. I'm sure she will see this post and give you the lowdown on her experience with it!!
GOOD LUCK, and pls. post & let us know how it came out!!
I haven't used it in a while though, been experimenting with other brands. I plan on geeting more this weekend. I prefer dark colors and have only bought their Silken Black. What I love about this product are its conditioning properties (detangling, softness) during application and the rich color I get after application.
Is this a permanent color? Lindy, did you apply the bronze straight over your own color without having to bleach or anything first?
One more question:
If I dyed my hair...say...that bronze color and then wanted my natural color back (dark brown), to dye it again, would that be twice as damaging or would it not matter since I don't have to use bleach going darker?
You can apply the T&T directly to your hair. I did do the Lightest Blond, but it was too light. I prefer the Bronze now, thanks to Lindy's recommendation.
SSC - NEVER bleach and then apply PERMANENT color. Never. You will destroy your hair. If you wanted to go dark again you could choose a no deposit color (not a permie) and go dark with that or a rinse.
When you are talking about peroxide it never "doesn't matter". You ALWAYS have to take it into account. Each time you apply it, the hair gets weaker.
Okay guys, so I applied the Honey Blonde to my mother's hair on Saturday and uh....
The center roots of her hair, where I had parted her hair in 4s, came out the blondest. I didn't like it at all.
But all around, and the ends came out a pretty orangeyish tone, very similar to mine, but it was very pretty and matched her face much better.
I felt so bad about her roots turning out like they did, I did wait to apply the color to the roots last, but it still processed very quickly. My mother is pleased though (God bless her). When I was all done, she looked in the mirror and said,
"Oh my Lord!"
But, she was very nice and tried not to hurt my feelings. I told her to let me go and buy her a rinse to put over it, but she claims she loves the color
, so I'll leave it at that. Lord, please let her roots grow out really, really fast!
Oh Jeez!! Sorry that your Mom's hair didn't come out so well, Karonica!!! I hate to say it, but you should have used the BRONZE!!! I just don't like those Blonde colors. I've tried them before(but not T&T), and they seem to turn dark hair orangey and brassy. The Bronze is the only light color that doesn't do that (at least on me!!)
Maybe you could put a rinse over her hair (Adore or Colourshines) to darken it up a little bit. I know she says she likes it, but don't let her walk around looking crazy!!
I remember my Mom went to a salon once to get her hair colored and they gave her this real crazy looking bright red color. At the salon, her stylist was saying "I like it!!" But we were looking at it like
; after we left and we looked at her hair in the sun, she went right back in there and made them do it over.
Permanent color can be really tricky!! I've been doing my own for years and I still get a little nervous each time I retouch. You just never know what you're gonna come out with in the end...
It is tricky. Those roots are hardest. You have to do them last and you have to watch 'em like a hawk. I used Lightest Blond and it turned out great on me. But it's hard. Work on Mom a little over the next few weeks and see if you can't get her to let you apply that rinse.
And be careful with it - her hair will suck up color like a sponge now. So err on the side of lighter.
PS, that middle part where you parted it came out lightest as well because like most of us yu probably naturally applied the color going from the inside out....the parts first, then secitioning through to do the rest. So that part got the color first....
I have a question. What do you do if you use a permanent color and wash it out after 15 minutes because you are scared to screw it up. The color that you end up with is nice, but you realize that you could have left it in longer, for maybe 5 or 10 more minutes. Can you reprocess with the same color?
I thought I read somewhere that you could dye your hair again the next day, but don't quote me on that. I'm going to Clairol's site to hunt it down, cuz I know I read it somewhere.
Thank you Tracy and Karonica. I had been debating coloring my hair for 6 months and I finally found a color that I could live with. I think I psyched myself out with visions of coming out with a Beyonce type Blonde do. I actually like where it's at, but I'm not sure if that was supposed to be the final step since it's not that drastic a change from my natural color. It really just neutralized the red tones in my hair. But overall the color is still the same.
Oh, no. My natural color is very dark brown almost black. I thought that a lighter shade of brown would complement my skin tone, but I definitely did not want it to go blonde. That's what I was afraid of. The color that I chose was a natural golden brown, called Brown sugar. I waited 10 minutes after I did the ends, to do the roots. When they started looking like they were as light as I could stand I figured the rest was done also, since the ends had already had color for 10 minutes. So I rinsed it out. Once it dried, it didn't look that much different from where I started, just really shiny. I think I was expecting more dimension to the color. I'll probably have to walk around and look at it more.
