Hello Ladies,

I will be texlaxing my hair this weekend and I wanted to know what brands of relaxers and conditioners you use to mix with? And also what are the measurements of each and how long do you leave it in on for?

Sorry for all the questions.

Thank you in advance. :rosebud:

I use Revlon Realistic Regular Lye as my relaxer; I don't mix anything with it. I just limit application and processing time to 12-15 minutes total. Keep in mind that my hair is a bit resistent, so this method works great for me.

Silk Elements Lye Mild formula. Straight, no chaser. I do make sure my ends are oiled or have conditioner on them though.

i have used three different relaxers and achieved similar results. I think it is important to consider the texture of your hair and the type of results that you are trying to achieve.

My hair is fine-medium, and relaxes quickly so I always stay with Mild formulas. the total time that the relaxer is on my head is usually 15 minutes. Because I am deathly afraid of overprocessing my hair.

Last night I texlaxed with Hawaiian Silky Mild(lithium hydroxide). I added 1 capful of coconut oil, 1/2 a capful of Silk amino acid, 1 tablespoon of Joico conditioner(keratin protein). My total application time was 15 minutes. My hair came out pretty straight but with lots of body. Pretty much exactly what I was looking for.

Before that I used Mizani no lye with 1 teaspoon of coconut oil and a capful of Silk amino acid. Mizani is very gentle and washes out easily, and leaves your hair very soft and conditioned. I would use again. Perfect for texturizing. I got nice corkscrew curls.

Before that I used African Pride with jojoba and olive oils (no lye). I mixed 1 tblspn of conditioner, 1 tsp coconut oil, 1 tsp olive oil, 1 capful SAA. I added too much stuff, b/c my hair barely relaxed at all.
