I think the good thing about being a teen on the forum is that you are more open to things than if you were 20 years older

I am teaching my mother the things I learn on the board but she still comes out with "but your hair won't grow past your shoulders, its notin your genes..who is our family has hair past there shoulders:drunk:"...yeah ummmm who is our family takes care of their hair???:rolleyes:

I also teach my grandmother and aunt but I teach them one thing and do another :sigh:

I try to teach my mom..... she tells me the samething of course.
but my sister has been opening up to me. Shes willing to try anything just for the fun of it....she co-washed last week and she really enjoyed it!
shes in micros.
 
yeah iam a teen as well iam 18, found lhcf when i was 16, i paid when i was 16 as well...hopeing to be apl or past by the time i take my weave out this june, if not august.
 
I found teh site when I was 16-17 im 21 now !!!Taking t very seriously

I am a highschool freshman and 14 (turning 15 in a few). found lhcf at 13 and have been lurking until I payed yesterday :grin:

I'm 19 been on here about a year... i've been on other hair boards (nappturality naturallycurly) and fotki since my junior yr in HS tho... i guess i was probably 17ish... i love this site tho! i'm almost at BSL for the second time!
 
I found LHCF when I was 19 and I'll be 21 in 3 days.

I should be farther along...but I was lazy.
 
i found this site around 3-4 years ago, joined about 2 years ago, and paid this year. I'm now 17.
 
i'm 20, will be 21 in october

...but my sister is 13 and i do her hair so it counts i say :look:
 
I just turned 20 this month so I guess I'm not really in the teen category anymore. However, I found the site when I was 17 and became a member a few months later when I was 18.
 
I'm new here. I've finally payed the 6.50 after lurking for a few months and starting off my journey on another hair board. Anyways I'm 19, but will be turning 20 later this month . . . not looking forward to it. I feel old lol :look:
 
Welcome young people! I'm glad to see so many of you here on the forum. :)

If you dont have control over all of your own hair choices, there are still things in your power you can do such as protective styling, moisturizing etc. There are threads that abound about cheapie conditions ie Suave, that work well. Good hair care is more method than product, and doesnt have to be expensive. Time is on your side! Having this knowledge and not going though the heartbreak of hair loss from missue of chemicals and poor weaving techniques is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. Once your hair takes off, your friends and fam will come around, so dont stress about it. Once they do, share the knowledge.

me: 4b relaxed..... was bsl until a recent "trim" from a stylist :ohwell:...so back to beyond apl for moi.
 
I'm 19, when I first found this forum I was 14 I think, but then I lost the link and all the great tips with it. I came back when I was 17.
 
I gave this site to my friend for her bi-racial daughters. Ages 12 - 14. They have very long hair but as they became teens and started taking care of it themselves, it started breaking. They need to know how to take care of their hair

Hey, I'm 29 and when I first saw this site, I was like yeah, right.... you know black women's hair don't get long. so I was skeptical tooo.. lucky you- all of you- for finding this place so young! Good luck to you all!
 
yea i found this site when i was 19 and became a member when i just turned 20. i wish i found it when i was younger like you guys:ohwell::yep:

I'm 17 turning 18 tomorrow and I found LHCF a while back in January, just like you girls I didn't take it seriously, until I went threw my email and decided to give it a try. I'm glad that I found it. Luscious hair her i come
 
Im 19 too! Lots of 19 yr olds....

I found Cathy Howse's Book at 17, then this site shortly later, lurked BHM, then joined this.
 
Discovered LHCF when i was 14, tried to do the healthy hair thing but i was always lacking in resources/had a setback etc. So its only now im getting serious (and im 19 now)

ITA ^^^. WE NEED TO START THE TREND!! I am not a teen anymore but I found LHCF last summer (19) and now I am 20!!
 
I'm 19. I found this place at 17 when I decided to go natural, paid for full access when I was 18 and have just started delurking :wavey:
 
Turned 18 in April found the forum in Jan. joined in Feb. :drunk:
