Ladies, I was on another forum and was asked about how I teach my kids about the bible, christian living and Godly principles. I thought it was an excellent question.
First, I try to lead by example. I am faaaaaar from perfect, but when I make mistakes, I talk to them about it and clear the air.
Second, the DOLLAR STORE! I have a three year old. He has a childs bible, but the dollar store has a great selection of books based on bible stories. He loves them and we read together as well as learn about God!
Third, I always take my children to church with me. They sit with me (except for Sunday school hours) and we talk about things that are discussed. Last Sunday, my son said "momma, I want my own bible, I am tired of sharing yours!" I felt so good! At least I know I am leading him in the right direction.
Last and most important, WE PRAY! I don't know how this dropped in my spirit, but one morning, as I was dropping them off at school, I felt the urgent need to pray. I started doing this as our morning ritual. Now my son tells me if I forget "ma, you forgot prayer!" I love my babies so much, I want them to grow up knowing, worshiping and respecting God.
What do you ladies do to foster these kinds of principles/values in your children?
Sorry this post is so long!
I have way more I could say, but I want to hear what you think.
