Taj's flat iron

Hello ladies, I was reading the sister2sister maggie and I read that Taj uses the wet to dry flat iron. that way the blow dryer is not used. Does any one here use it. I'm afraid that it will cause damage. Although Taj's hair doesnt look like it's in bad shape.
