Suspected \"problem\": Going from Lye 2 No-Lye!! : (

Hello everyone, I'm very new here (and shy)to LHCF but so
glad and feeling blessed to be here...

Just wanted to ask anyone if they noticed
their hair "change" when they made the switch
from a No-Lye to a Lye Relaxer??

I ask because I truly have noticed a negative
change and regrowth problem since doing so.
{he Re-growth has been tight, rough, and
so unmanageable!}

So bad that I have decided to STOP perming
my hair totally for a while until I get what
I got back together somehow...

[I believe I have a combination of 3b & 4a
hair, and it USED to wave up so nicely with
alot of conditioner and gel mixed together
when pulled back with a texturizing
no-lye in it, but now it's just a ball
of FRIZZZZZ....

Thanks to this forum, I have been inspired
to cut of a good fat 2 inches from my
dried up ends on my own (to start all over
again), and begin a deep conditioning
routine until I get this
hair back under some sort of unfrizzy,
untangled 'control'.

PLEASE SHARE if anyone has any suggestions
or advice, OR would like to shed light on
a their own No-Lye to Lye Experience!

Thank you!

Re: Suspected \"problem\": Going from Lye 2 No-Lye!! : (

Some people never switched or just went ahead back to no-lye (myself included).
Seems lye ain't for everyone.

WHOOPS... {I meant from NO-Lye 2 Lye, People!}

Sorry about the confusion, but I had
it backwards and truly meant the
switch from NO-Lye to Lye!

(Not only do I suspect that the Lye
"roughened", dried out and
jacked up my new growth,
but it might affected my *brain*
seeing that my post was a lil' off
the mark... )

Thanks UmSumayyah & Raquel for your
much appreciated input!

If anyone has done the NO-Lye to LYE switch
and had problems *please advise*...!

Re: WHOOPS... {I meant from NO-Lye 2 Lye, People!}

I was considering the switch b/c lye didn't straighten well but i found a lye relaxer that proved me wrong (Revlon Realistic)..

I would suggest you try using an msm cream moisturizer on your scalp or a sulfur 8 grease and daily MSM supplements in addition to that. The sulfur in each of these products will benefit your hair and perhaps reverse the effects that you are witnessing.

Good luck girly

An MSM Cream Moisturizer?? Ooooh excuse
my ignorance, but must I make that myself
or can I purchase it somewhere??

Thanks so much for your reply, it
sure makes me feel like I've got a
chance to work this out! Very
helpful and uplifting indeed...!

Ok, I've seen alot written here about
the MSM Supplements, and that really
sounds like a good remedy too, and
once my budget (after this Christmas)
is back on track, MSM is what I'll
start takin' internally.

Thank you SweetNic__JA and to everyone
for all input!

Re: WHOOPS... {I meant from NO-Lye 2 Lye, People!}

I made the switch from no-lye to lye a while back. I do notice that my hair does not get as straight with the lye. That's about the only thing that I miss. (I am using Affirm Mild.) Otherwise, my hair is not as dry and brittle with the Lye.

There is a recipe on the recipe board for MSM Conditioner if you want to make your own. By the way, welcome to the Board.

perfect peace

Re: WHOOPS... {I meant from NO-Lye 2 Lye, People!}

Wow thank you for the added input ladies!
So there *are* or *can* be changes
when you NO-Lye to Lye, then!?

Well, I admit I could've done MUCH
more *regular* conditioning and
moisturizing once I made the switch
but I sure didn't expect such a
BIG sudden change for the worst
after PCJ'ing!

For one thing, I DO NOT recommend
anyone doing themselves a long lost
re-touch with PCJ For Kids, ever!

TERRIBLE. I shoulda just stayed with
my Gentle Treatment No-Ly Regular
strength and been done with it!

BIG LESSON.

Blessings to you perfect peace & to
all who respond!
