Surge:I Thought It No Longer Existed

I havnt tried but wanted to when their was rave reviews, but after i finish this MN mix i have now i will be laying of the growth aids. Glad you found it though make sure you check the date on the bottle

What state are you in? There is none here in Georgia. I just bought some from a member on here that lives in MD & they still had it in a BSS there. Would you be interested in selling some?

I live in MD. My mother came up from Atlanta this past October. We bought 2 Surge's for her, since she wanted them so badly. Looking back, I should have bought them all if I had known that they'd be discontinued. She's still asking me about them because she uses her Surge daily and LOVES it! She doesn't want to run out.

I'll be looking when I get to Atlanta, but I don't know of any BSS in my area here in MD that still has Surge. :nono:

I am in Washington D.C., I will go back to the store and get some if you'd like(provided they didn't disappear overnight )...which product were you interested in?

Ladies be careful. I "tried" to stock up on Surge cause I like it for detangling. I ended up with some counterfit bottles. I couldn't understand why my hair was so dry and hard, but something made me check the ingredients on an old bottle and the newer ones. Of course they were totally different. Thank goodness I still had the old bottle to compare. I was mad though!:wallbash:

There are two different formulas. They came out with a "new and improved" one with a different ingredient lists. I never used Surge, but some reported that they like the older one better.

Ohhhh...didn't realize that. I have no idea which one is old and which one is new, but one is fabulous on my hair and the other causes a lot of damage.

Formula 1: (the one I love) Water, cetrimonium chloride, propylene glycol, muccopolysaccharides, hydrolyzed keratin protein, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, polyquarternium-7, biotin, fragrance, methylparaben, aloe barbadensis gel, propylparaben, citric acid, sodium PCA

Formula 2: (YUCK) Water, propylene glycol, PEG-7 Dimethicone phthalate, myccopolysaccharides, cetrimonium chloride, hydrolyzed keratin protein, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, biotin, polyquarternium-7, fragrance, methylparaben, propylparaben, sodium PCA, triethanolamine

HTH!!

Well unfortunately the one that I have is the bad one.:perplexed I will check & see if the ones that were sold to me (haven't been to my P.O. Box yet) are the old or new formula. If its the new formula, I may resell them & stick soley with the MN mix.

awww booo! I got a yucky bottle!! :ohwell: I'm gonna ahve to go back to the BSS that I bought it from and see if they have any originals left. It clearly says on my bottle with a big red sticker that it's the "new and improved formula" lol.

Sade, I don't mean to hijack your thread, but it seems the major differences between the two formulas are less antiseptic (centrimonium chloride) and NO aloe vera gel in the second formula. If you add some aloe gel to the second one, I wonder if it'll work...HTH

Don't think I'll be buying the new formula. Looks like the good stuff:muccopolywhatever is still there but the new mix sounds really 'chemically.'
I'll continue to use my original holdovers {14 and ULTRA-MAX}
very sparingly at my roots only. Perhaps the lack of major buyers{LHCF and other hair sites plus disappointed new users} will help them realize this 'aint gonna work. I still want to know why they abandoned the original formula in the first place! Searching FDA sites for info. yielded nothing.

A lot of times new formulas aren't necessarily improved. So whatever is out there in stores is what is left from the original. If you want the old formula, you'll probably have to keep checking stores to see who still has it on the shelf.

Don't forget lots of silicone as well. Everyone's hair cannot tolerate silicone. I know it coats my hair, which it is supposed to do, but it blocks moisture and dries it terribly. It also clogs my pores and makes me itch more and have more hair fall.

I finally made it to my P.O. Box & the ones that I bought from the LHCF member were the old formula. Since I started out using the new, I'll be able to track whether I notice any difference. Will report later...:yep:

Moroni you are right... I think the lack of aloe vera gel is what's causing my dissatisfaction with the new one. Thanks...getting some aloe gel is easy. I'm gonna try it. Wonder why they took that ingredient out? Hmmm :ohwell:
