I have heard that if you have braids, you should put sunscreen on your scalp to prevent sunburns.

Does anyone here do this (or do this to their child's head)? Any advice about what types of sunscreen to use? (Just wondering if there are any products to avoid.)

Thanks!

I was reading something on MSN a while back and someone asked that question. I think the answer was to try and find hair products with sunscreen in them instead of using a regular sunblock.

Just wear a hat if you're going to be outside that long.

i agree...there are a couple of lines out there made specifically for uv protection.

I have boys, and we live in Southern California, so when they get a haircut, I put sunscreen directly on their heads and scalp

I use Coppertone or Panama Jack. I only had those because they were on sale. Coppertone is a little spendy. I use alll brands.
