I posted this in the wrong thread previously .....

I am a faithful Qhemet user but in light of the difficulty in obtaining those products i am looking at the situation as an opportunity to try some new/different moisturizers. Who knows...maybe i'll come across ones i love more?? Any suggestions ladies? I'm interested in comparable products to the amla pomade and the twist butter. TIA!!

I only adore Qhemet's Amla & Olive Heavy Cream which works similar to JBCO/Castor Oil straight. (Castor Oil is a main ingredient of the Heavy Cream).

Hopefully, more will chime in...

I prefer Curls whipped creme to the AOHC, it smells better and doesn't have a greasy residue. I've never tried the aethiopika butter though.

I'm also suffering from the Qhemet difficulties (good way of putting it, btw) and have found that spritzing my hair with a mixture of hibiscus tea, black tea, and a splash of veggie glycerin and then sealing it with castor oil has given me the same level of moisture without some of the heaviness of my beloved AOHC.

It's actually making me rethink participating in the sale when (or if) it happens.

Chaosbutterfly that rabbit in your siggie =>

Chaosbutterfly...great suggestion...i will have to try that.....similar to u I am discovering that i no longer need the all of the qhemet products i had been purchasing before..since going w/o for so long i've been experimenting with various other product combos i have on deck. Some have worked out just great! .... now just looking for suitable replacements for the twist butter and the amla pomade now. I am perusing Darcy's Botanicals ...some of their products seem promising....

I restarted using Afroveda again. It's not Qhemet, but it is strikingly similar to me. I really am thinking about just leaving Qhemet alone and stick with Afroveda. It hasn't done me wrong and it is moisturizing for me. I am interested in the twist butter, but since I am more interested in wearing strait styles; it doesn't matter to me.

I made a thread like this a few months back. I need a replacement for QB burdock root creme.
I have 2.5 jars left in the fridge but am afraid once done i'll have a problem finding it in store.

Some may disagree, but her Shea Amla reminds me of the QB Heavy cream. Her Burdoch Root reminds me of AV Hemp seed butter. They react the same in my hair, though the consistency of the products are different. In fact, I used for the first time, their Moringa Supreme Ginseng leave in and it is fabulous! I never tried Qhems Moringa detangling ghee, but if it is similar....WOW! My hair is really thriving with it. No more single strand knots and my hair is really moisturized. In fact, I will be changing my hair goals because of it. No more hiding my hair. I will be doing roller sets weekly. Since I have the right products, I can enjoy my hair again and not crave a relaxer. I air dried my roller set and it came out pretty good. I just had to flat iron my roots a little.

So far I have found no replacement. :nono: The twist butter is the bomb.com.

I don't really use the AOHC anymore but I did try the detangling ghee for the first time and that may be in my rotation heavy and replacing the AOHC.

When I can't get my hands on AOHC, I use Shea Moisture's Deep Treatment Masque. It technically is their version of a DC, but works great on my thirsty strands as a daily/weekly moisturizer.

This is why i am trying my darndest to not rely on hair products. Too much disappointment once you get hooked. Qhemet is an awesome brand...

When I'm out of Qhemet, I use Oyin Handmade Whipped Pudding; however, the WP is a water based moisturizer.

What problems are you all having with Qhemet? I guess when my stash finally runs out I'll have to find something else. :perplexed

Theresamonet ...the online site has been 'out of stock ' since Nov while they are increasing their production capacity and repackaging as well (i believe)....they make some products available at another online store but it sells out w/in minutes and costs a bit more w/significantly higher shipping costs

I just washed and henna'd and for the first time used Komaza Care leave in. I have had the 2 samples forever ....they were GREAT!!! one was moisture and the other moisture and detangle so i mixed them and loved! Will try for the rest of the week to see if it can rival/replace the amla pomade...very different texture than the pomade but amazing moistening qualities that may just prove to be a worthy advisary (sp?).....

Oh wow... Again?! Qhemet really annoys me with this mess... I would be so through with this company if their Burdock Root Butter Cream was not 'my precioussss'. :look:

Again? They have a history of doing this? :ohwell:

I'm running low on the AOHC. Thankfully, I stocked up on some of the other stuff before the "out of stock" thing.

Meritamen ...to my knowledge they usually shut down and list out of stock about a month b4 a sale and then sell out of everything w/in hours so they did it a little longer (at least initially as they projected reopening in dec...then jan...then, well no anticipated date being conveyed nowadays) this time around in order to improve production abilities....i think the history of shutting down/out of stock gets frustrating for many.....

I've never tried the AOHC.... but looking at the ingredients below, it doesnt look that hard to whip together at home.... Castor + Olive + a good Leave in?

Ingredients: Castor Oil, Olive Oil, Distilled Water, Organic Amla, Organic Brahmi, Organic Aloe, Methylsulfonylmethane, Vegetable Glycerin, Conditioning Emulsifier (Sorbitan and Cetearyl), Phenoxyethanol & Ethylhexglycerin (a paraben-free and formaldehyde-free preservative), Essential oil blend

Last year she went out of stock during either her Christmas or Black Friday sale and didnt reopen until around April. :perplexed That is when I purchased last.

I think it's a really poor business practice. One day, a new natural vendor is going to swoop in and steal her clientel while she is on one of her famous 6 month hiatus.

^ DAMN I did not know it was about to be all of that. From December to April?! :dead:

I don't mind the site being out of stock so much because I have what I need for the time being, but what I don't get is constantly sending product to all these other vendors. If all the product that gets shipped off to other vendors was put with the product that's being prepped for the sale instead, I know that they'd be able to re-open faster.
