substitutions for Qhemet?

I posted this in the wrong thread previously .....

I am a faithful Qhemet user but in light of the difficulty in obtaining those products i am looking at the situation as an opportunity to try some new/different moisturizers. Who knows...maybe i'll come across ones i love more?? Any suggestions ladies? I'm interested in comparable products to the amla pomade and the twist butter. TIA!!

when you say difficulties what does that mean?? the price of shipping

^ DAMN I did not know it was about to be all of that. From December to April?! :dead:

I don't mind the site being out of stock so much because I have what I need for the time being, but what I don't get is constantly sending product to all these other vendors. If all the product that gets shipped off to other vendors was put with the product that's being prepped for the sale instead, I know that they'd be able to re-open faster.

I'm lost on that part too. Very curious. Hopefully they are stocked again soon. It's frustrating that i can't buy what I need when I want. The product is great which is the only reason why I hang in there.

Was about to post the same thing... I don't get the stocking other vendors and people end up paying a little more :perplexed. I really like her products but i'm not stuck to them. I'm actually really liking Donna Marie's Super butter creme. I'll still order from her once she restocks, though...:yep:

none of afroveda's products are simalar to qb's. afroveda's butters is are lighter and less moisturizing.

Have you tried Afroveda lately? Their products have changed for the better. In fact, they have improved, in my opinion. My hair really loves the products, so that's all I care about.:yep: I'm not knocking Qhemet, but her butters do the same for me that AV does and I find AV to me to be more moisturizing.

thanks, ladies for all of the comments. i understand qhement wanting to improve delivery of products/service, i really do. moreover, i don't begin to assume that i know what goes on behind the scenes production and distribution-wise; nor do i want to cast aspersions on their products or business decisions. i just know that my perception as a customer is everything, so because the products are available, i as a customer don't comprehend why they can't be made available from the source at the price (product and shipping) i've become accustomed to. As a customer, it would be more palatable, IMO of course, that the products weren't available period in terms of better understanding/supporting the shut down and its purported purpose. Again, I can appreciate their end goal, but unfortunately losing long time customers to other product lines because customers took this opportunity to shop around is a risk - probably one that has been pretty well calculated and vetted by QB (i would hope). i won't say that i wouldn't order from them again if the need arose. i just would prefer they not be my first choice for staple products for me anymore.

btw, the komaza care leave ins i tried for the first time last night are doing me so right today! seems very promising! that twist butter is the truth though, so i am hoping the products i ordered from darcy's botanicals yesterday can hold up to it

any other comparable product suggestions? thanks again !

i want to order some stuff from here:

http://www.etsy.com/search/handmade...itage+hydrations&view_type=gallery&ship_to=US

there's a discount code: 15OFF if this one is expired try facebook10

qhemet has such a huge following if she opened her site with the product she has, she'd be out of stock in an hour or less. there are so many people beyond this forum that love her stuff; yt, naturallycurly, bhm, curlynikki, etc. as a small business owner its not easy to keep up with quantity while maintaining the integrity of the product. in fact the larger most companies grow in the name of greed they cut corners and lose site of their mission statement. i'll get some subs and ride it out till she re-opens.

i was also going to suggest komaza care but some of their products though creamy are a little too wet and would cause frizzies with certain styles. but komaza is uber-moisturizing. i've used the shea butter lotion and coconut curl lotion.

Shea Amla- to my hair reacts like the QB Heavy cream
Hemp Butter- to my hair reacts like the Burdock root butter.

Afroveda butters are now thicker and more whipped in comparison with the past. I have never tried QB detangle ghee, but AV has a Moringa Ginseng Detangling spray that just makes detangling a breeze for me. It used to take me at least an hour to detangle and style and now it takes me 30 minutes. I can now air dry my hair without it being a crunchy mess. Since using AV products my hair has done a turn around. No, angels are not singing, but it is a whole lot of time I spend less on my hair thanks to the way my hair is acting to Afroveda's products.

Thanks, southerncitygirl !!

I'm trying the Creme Brulee moisturizer from Beija Flor Naturals. Although shipping is slow, but expected from the reviews that I read. But I am almost to the point of trying to make my own moisturizer. It shouldn't be that hard considering that most of the ingredients are readily available. Does anyone have any suggestions?

..........
A general FY!: I understand the frustration which is why we've made the products available at Sage while we transition. They've been available online there since December 10th and are restocked weekly. I monitor their stock levels and once they're restocked, they remain in stock from several hours (depending on the product) to several days. Sage offers flat rate shipping and free shipping for qualifying orders. In 2010, the BF sale was held on Nov. 26 and we reopened on 1/21/2011. We weren't closed until April. :)

I'd go with Claudie's

Isha Hair Creme
Ends Insurance Hair Creme
Quinoa Balanced or Quinoa Moisturizing Hair Creme

Which IMO would be a suitable replacement for QB. She is having a 25% off Valentine's Day Sale too, until Feb. 10th.

komaza califia cream is very thick and moisturizing i love it.
another very moisturizing cream is bee mine luscious. i dont know if it compares to qhemet for yall because qhemet has never been that great for my hair but komaza and bee mine are winners in my book.

@chebaby

I Agree. There are others. Many of the Marie Dean Hair Cremes i.e.:

Vanilla & Lemon
Honey & Soy
Henna Haircreme
Amala Hair Creme
Yogurt Hair Smoothy
*most of the Leave-Ins

Donna Marie Super Butter Creme. Camille Rose Moisturizing Hair Butter. Komaza. Bee Mine etc......

Yep. There are alot of things out there (IMO) that can give the same if not greater results.

I like QB too, but there are others out there.:look:

Thanks IDareT'sHair .... i will be visiting that site today!!!

basically. i mean the first ingredient in heavy cream is castor oil right? moisturize your hair with something and then seal it with castor oil. BAM!!! there you go:lol:

Just tried the Komaza care Califia moisturizing spray last night and hair was sooo soft and moisturized....did everything it purported ....i last washed on Saturday and had been wearing twist out all week so hair was looking a little "worn" for lack of better term ...this spray gave it life! I just ordered the sample but will be ordering the full size soon. So glad i am revisiting this line!

i just ordered the following from claudies today:
balancing quinoa coffee hair cream
isha hair cream
balancing end insurance
murumuru acai butter

that should hold me for a bit. i'll stash whatever i don't use in the fridge.

I think I found a substitute -- B.A.S.K. Beauty

I posted comparison pics on my blog of my hair when using Qhemet to style and using BASK for the same style.

a quote from my post...
"Just the same as Qhemet, B.A.S.K. Beauty products allowed for my hair to feel extremely moisturized without that greasy and weighted feeling. My hair maintained its hold and softness for several days. The swang and shine were crazy and frizz was kept at a minimum. "

i have been using the following from claudies:
isha cream
murmumuru acai butter
balancing ends insurance

i use either of the first 2 on my entire head and the ends insurance on my ends, then seal with oil. i haven't cracked open my quinoa and coffee balancing cream yet.

these products are wetter and less heavy than qb but very moisturizing.

when she has another sale, i plan on ordering:
satin daily moisturizer
balancing daily moisiturizer
hair frappe
another isha butter and balancing ends insurance

i may try hairitage hydrations and saravun at another date. at this point i don't want to be commited to one line, qb will be one of several.
