Stupid, newbie question...please forgive me

Okay ladies, I have tried and tried to fully understand the co-washing concept, technique etc. But I just don't really get it yet. Help!

It appears some folks do this daily. What does it entail? I can see the benefits but are you guys washing and drying your hair everyday? Do you wear it natural and let it air dry etc.? Sorry if this seems stupid.

TIA!

Girl that's not a stupid question. In fact there no such thing as a stupid question. idk either so I'm bumping for you:grin:

The only dumb question is the one that isn't asked :yep:

There are a lot of ways to cowash, some people put conditioner on dry hair and let it sit for a while, then rinse out. Some people put on dry hair and use heat. I did it while in the shower. When I got in the shower, I'd rinse my hair with water for a minute or so, slap on a conditioner, put my hair in a bun on top of my head and finish with my shower. When I was done with my soower, I'd rinse out the conditioner, put on a leave-in, put my hair in a bun or pin it back in a twist and leave it alone till the next day when I co washed again

If you wash frequently, your best bet is to airdry. Don't wanna overdo it with the heat.

I co-wash daily while in the shower moisture, then I towel blot a litlle bit, then air dry. Right now I still do protective styling, but when I get to my first goal APL, I plan to start doing WnGs/braidouts.

Okay so most people who are doing this will just go out the door wet more or less? I just kept thinking, man I must be lazy as hell because I thought you guys were washing, drying, styling everyday before going off to work/school.

Thanks for the info! And most importantly not making me feel like an idiot!

i co wash and then add leave in condish(salerm 21 b5) and then i rollerset.
i am not natural(im transitioning) and i love to wear my hair down so a wash and go or a bun will not do for me so i always rollerset
oh and i do not do this everyday. i do it like once a week

I don't cowash all the time sometimes I just let conditioner sit on my hair and rinse it out. I always wash my hair at night and it's dry the next day. When I cowash I wet my hair first then take a handful of conditioner and massage it in my scalp just like if I was washing it with shampoo.

I always air dry. Sometimes I use flexi riods. Sometimes I cornrow (which I can't do very well) if I want a braid out, sometimes I wrap it.

Heeeeeyyyy, I'm learning!

I’m new and learning too!!! :) From what I’ve heard, there isn’t really a right or wrong way to co-wash; it all depends on your hair type. My hair is VERY dry so I’ve started using hot oil treatments before hand.

The biggest thing seems that there is a lot of trial and error. Which is why I have a crap load of product in my bathroom cabinets!

I tried hot oil treatments but they make my hair greasy. I need moisture but it has to be just the right amount or I look like a grease monkey. :wallbash:

That make two of us ;) Even when you sift through all of the hair tips and find those which seem like they'd work best for your hair type and goals, there are still a lot of things to try!
