I'm going to stretch mine out also by pulling it back into a ponytail after I wash it and letting it dry that way under a satin scarf. This allows it to dry straighter than it would if I just let it hang out and air dry under the scarf. I'm going to wear it in a ponytail and wear it in the braidout style with some s curl in it to soften my curls. The best way to do this is gradually. I usually relax after 6 weeks so I am going for 8. However,my cut off will be 12 weeks. I will not go past that.

Tee Tee,

After you streth it out from 6 to 8 weeks you will see how easy it was. Then you will want to try to stretch from 8 to 10 weeks and so forth. That's what I did and I'm pleased that I did that.

Now, I'm at my all time longest from 11 to 13 weeks so far and still counting. I want to see how long I can go without the help of braid extensions, wigs, or weaves. Hoperfully, I can overcome my challenges and make it to 6 mos. Then go to 12 mos.

- now that's really stretching it for me.

Yea, I've already stopped combing my new growth beacause fro me that only gives breakage...now I'm starting to cornrow it once a week and a week before my relaxer imma do a rollerset to differenciate new growth from previously relaxed hair

This last time I was able to stretch it out to 13 weeks and even though this is a new record for me, it's a struggle. I'll try to match that this time, maybe go one week more...

Me too. I think that 12 weeks is as far as I want to go. Usually by 3wks I already have quite a bit of new growth so I'm doing the gradually method, I'll try for 8wks next time but 12 weeks maximum....

My hair stylist wants me to come in at 6 weeks. My appointment is next weekend but I don't have a lot of new growth. I am going to push it back for 10 weeks. I tend to get more new growth in the summertime.

I've been doing pretty good for the last couple days with these single braids in, but I miss the daily co washes. I'm not sure if I can still do those with these braids and I probably won't. I plan to do a co wash on sat-tues and put my hair in a bun. Then roller set on Wed night. That will put me at 15 weeks. I will see how it turns out. I hope good. After looking at peachtree's transition album this morning and those beautiful waves she has, I still have the motivation to continue on. Until I have to mess with that new growth jungle I'm sure. LOL.

But I just need more patience and time to work with my hair. I can't do these quick morning shower co washes and bun style, it take to long to detangle now. I guess I will have to start with nightly co washes and take the time to detangle correctly so I won't tare out my hair unncessarily. Who knows, after I put my scarf on and wear it all night maybe I'll get some of those waves that peachtree has.

How is it going for other people? What type of styles are you wearing? Are you manipulating your hair everyday? Do you see alot of growth?

LW, my new growth is out of control. I wear a bun everyday. It looks good when I leave the house, but by the end of the day, it starts to look raggedy. The new growth starts showing btwn the permed hair and it's getting increasingly harder to make my hair look sleek. OH BTW, the new growth is very wavy. Anywho, I pulled out my trusty coconut oil 2 days ago along with my other trusty products and now all is well again. I'm still aiming for Mid- December to relax (4 mos).

I am in too..i usually touch up every 10-12 weeks. I dunno about 16 weeks though..maybe 14-16 weeks. My last touch up was September 10th so my goal is to wait until Dec 17th

Okay I'm at week 8 as of today and I don't think I'm going to make it to week 12. This is the longest I've ever gone with out a hair cut. I went 16 weeks with the help of braids, but the micro braids helped to break and chew off my hair. I think I'm biting the touch-up bullet Wed or Thurs.

ok no transitioning for me. So I shall join the SOR challenge. So far I'm on week 10 and it feels like it is time. Though I am going to try and wait for week 12 so I only have to relax 4 times a year

wow u guys r doing great.ima try stretching mine for 10 wks....ok 8weeks, and if i feel ok 10...lol....but i really wanna learn not to relax as often as i am but after 6 weeks my hair is sitting up so high it looks like a wig..lol A MINI afro , and then relaxed ends have me lookin crazy!!!!!

Okay, the last thing I said was that I was going to relax next week (that would've been 8.5 weeks), but I changed my mind I am going to stick it out and go back to Luisa's for a Doobie! I can do this!

I didn't mean hair cut, I meant a touch-up.

My hair from the top middle down to the last quarter of my hair seems to have the most new growth. The front top and the very back seem to have the least or maybe the newgrowth is just softer there and not as thick.

I'm happy that I've recommited myself to waiting until my 12th week because this will really help with ensuring that my stylist does not overlap come touch-up time. CD's hair milk has been a blessing to me because after washing adding this to my hair has helped my hair airdry much smoother than usual (just using a leave-in conditioner).

I can make it to week 12! December 19th is my touch-up day, the day right before GRADUATION!!!

Ok I'm at 9 weeks and there's a lot of new growth. I'm going to fight it out till the 26th or 27th week by wearing cornrows. I believe I'm in for a surprise.

25 weeks and still going strong. I truly believe you can do this especially if one day you decide to go natural. It's just that easy! Today I had a good conditioner and rollerset day. I combed my hair out and it's right at brastrap even with all this puffy newgrowth. Thanks to Surge, my edges have completely filled in. I can even yank on it a bit!

My hair looks and feels so silky today. Better yet, the newgrowth is soft. I think the coconut milk/olive oil combo is working out pretty good.

I'm entering my 10th week post-relaxer. This is the longest I've had ever stretched my relaxer. I think I'm going to end it at 11 weeks. I've noticed alot more hair in my comb as usual.

Ok, I'm in! I don't have a set time frame, though. I'm stretching things out indefinitely: lately I've been thinking of doing a gradual transition to natural hair. This is a great way to test the waters to see whether I'm truly ready to take the plunge.

I am in also. I just permed my hair on 11/21/03. I really want to stretch my perm because it has been growing like crazy!!!I want to be able to tame my new growth without over processing my hair.

Last relaxer was on September 12/03. I would like to stretch it till December 29/03 (would do it longer but I wanna get it done for New Years).

I permed on Nov 17 and I'm going unpermed until Apr 04 or Nov 04 I haven't decided yet. I could not do it without braid styles, weaves, strawsets, rollersets and hairstyle creativity. The sky is the limit. Just roll with it good luck hey if I can do it anybody can go natural I've been getting my hair professionally done since I was very young I had no concept of how to take care of my hair! but thanks to this board I'm there!

Well, today after 20 weeks I got my touchup and i'm definitely satisfied with the results so I don't mind going at it again!
