I'm experiencing soft new growth also for the past month. I thought it was the surge. that's the only new product I've been using and someone on this forum did say it makes your new grwoth softer....

I think my softer new growth was due to the Surge also. I used surge for a month on my 2 inches of new growth. It was a lot more softer than usual.

For all of you who are transitioning, when you do the big chop just be careful because you may think the straight hair still has perm but it just may be your texture. When I went natural it will be 2 years in June, I cut my hair 3 times b4 I realized that the semi straight hair WAS my natural texture. One head may have several different textures, straigh, coily, wavy, and so forth.

So, you're at the 18 month mark? That's not a long time, it takes about 5 years to purge a relaxer from your scalp.

Does anyone have proof of this?

I've noticed my new growth has been softer and the curl is straighter while still having a curl definition, since I started using Dominican conditioners last fall. I've tried Salerm Wheat Germ, 10 en 1 and Nacidit Olive Oil conditioners. I wonder if the softer new growth could be due to using conditioners that works really well with my hair.
