I haven't used a no lye relaxer in 4 years, but I'm really tempted to purchase this relaxer. I'm almost out of my Mizani I'm seriously thinking about purchasing this for my next touch up. You pushers need to cease the madness :) . I'm a PJ trying to stop, but I can't help it:grin:! I love getting products for my hair.

If you are just relaxing the new growth how is it making all your hair so shiny?

Was this question ever answered???? I was wondering the same question did you take the relaxer to the ends on your initial pplication b/c Nice and Kaddy that is some nice shine?

Oh Lawd!! I have been reading and reading these messages on how great this relaxer is and I think I am hooked! I have been using Optimum which I think is a no lye relaxer, right?

I just got a touch up about a month ago, so I won't be getting another one for another two months. So which one should I order? I think I should get Index 1 because I have fine hair, but I do want it to come out straight...I don't really have to have super straight hair, but I do want the frizz gone.

Sistas, help me out! :)

Interesting that you post his because last night I was trying to figure out the answer to this question. I don't take the relaxer to the ends of my hair, so I was thinking maybe it could be the milky reconstructor that is contributing to the shine. I am NOT totally 100% sure though.

I have never used index 1, so I can't really speak to how well it relaxes the hair. However, based on the description of each index, I would say that you should try index 1 since you describe your hair as "fine"

I really bumped this so that your question about where to purchase it in NYC could be answered. Really I did...

The only other option I can say is call 1-877-SPECFIC and ask them there. They have a listing of all the locations that carry it.

I remember seeing it at the Sephora in Soho, but that was a couple years ago. Try calling some of the Sephora stores, they could probably tell you which one carries it.

Thanks I'm off work Friday morning and I know there is a Sephora on 34th street and Herald Square so I will check there. Another excuse to go to Victoria Secret too.;)

I have fine hair and Index 2 did fine by me.

KAddy may get mad at me...but I'm contemplating a corrective relaxer with the Phyto next go round.

Again, I don't plan on switching again, using any other relaxer - so please buy so they keep making it due to demand.

And for the NYC'ers looking to purchase Phyto, check out:

http://www.rickys-nyc.com

for a location nearest you, call ahead and make sure they have in stock first.

I believe mine came to 65 bucks (including tax). I was my own shipping and handling..took my black behind to the store and got it.

I may be willing to take a chance though and order online next time as I'm not in a rush situation.

I am trying to decide on what index to use. I am thinking index 1. I have thick, course color treated hair, but I have never used anything but regular strength on my hair. My hair usually doesn't take long to break down. So Kaddy and all the other Phyto Queens can you help me out?

Are you looking for a relaxed look or texturized look? I would think as a 2c you would have been using mild relaxers all along. Based on that information alone I would say Index 1 was fine.

Thanks. I am looking for a straight look like my avatar. That is a Mizani there regular strentgh!!!!!!!!!!
After re-read I see the "I think" in your siggy. I don't want you to get the underprocessed look, so maybe you should stay w/regular (Index 2). Just rinse in an average amount of time. It doesn't get your hair pin-straight it seems (like some ppl prefer), so w/Index 1 you might end up w/texturized roots. It's hard to predict. :ohwell:

Well my Phyto arrived yesterday. I got the index 1. I plan on relaxing this weekend, so I'll post my review then.

Maybe you can help me with finding out my hair type. It is nappy when I get a relaxer it is bone straight no curl pattern at all. I never can wet my hair and it curl up. It is thick and coarse but breaks down easy with a relaxer. My ls said she thinks it is 2c that is why I chose that one!

Who did u order from???

I ordered from Hair Boutique. The shipping was fast. I ordered last Wed and got it yesterday. I'm sure if one orders it on a Mon or Tues, they would have it by Fri of the same week.

I agree that IF your hair is 2c, then you should be fine with index 1. But like SC said, it is hard to really tell how it will do.

Are you applying it yourself? If you are going to a salon, you MAY be able to get index 2 and let that stylist (if they move quickly) apply it and get the straightness that you desire. Or just go with Index 1 and see what happens. I think better to try Index 1 though especially since you think your hair is 2c.
