Info straight form the website:

How does PhytoRelaxer differ from other relaxers, is it as effective as chemical relaxers?

Yes. PhytoRelaxer is effective yet different because it relaxes the hair without harsh chemicals or the irritation usually associated with chemical relaxers. It does not contain any, Lithium, Calcium or Sodium hydroxides or Thio. Thio based refers to the ingredient Ammonium Thioglycolate - A hair straightener, antioxidant and depilatory. All lye and non-lye or traditional relaxers are not compatible with this ingredient.

mushroom salt??? :scratchch

Here is info from the website:

PhytoRelaxer is a luxurious experience of long-lasting control, manageability and versatility. A genuine innovation from PhytoSolba Laboratories, the formula incorporates a breakthrough discovery using active ingredients from 100% natural origin: the active egg extract relaxes and smoothes, while soya offers antioxidant properties and hydration. Simultaneously, PhytoRelaxer protects the hair shaft from dehydration and minimizes scalp irritation. After the application of this exclusive high-technology relaxing complex your hair will feel and look more silky, strong and radiant.
The straigtening cream has egg and soya extract. The liquid inductor that is mixed with the cream contains mushroom salt.

personal issue aside (LMAO @ emotional hair care issues:lachen: )

It didn't break your hair off did it? That's my main concern is that my hair will say "Oh hell to NO, this new ish we ain't havin'", And then up and leave my head!

Oh ok. Learn something new everyday. Thanks MissB. :)

Okay it seems the active ingredient in this relaxer is Guanidine Carbonate. Here's one definition I found on it.

Guanidine Carbonate is an alkaline, organic salt utilized primarily as an ingredient in hair straightening and depilatory systems. When combined with calcium hydroxide in (no-lye) hair relaxers it reacts to form a less irritating system than sodium hydroxide-based (lye) systems. It also is used as a buffering agent and a pH adjuster.

I am assuming that it is not combined with calcium hydroxide (since it's not listed as an ingedient) and is serving as the stand alone activator that does the straightening. This could explain why it acts differntly than a regular no-lye relaxer.

I meant to say personal decision

Anywho, I never experienced damage from switching relaxers. I waited 10 weeks between my last relaxer before I tried the PhytoRelaxer. I was careful not to overlap as well (at least to the best of my ability). So No, I didn't have any ill effects from using it. ;)

I thought that someone posted that the ph in in phyto was 9-12 but on the website is says 11.5-12.5 :ohwell:

Yeah that's where the questions arose. I think someone did their own ph level test and it was around 9 something. Yet when I called PhytoSpecific (and other ladies) I was informed of the range that is now posted on the website. I asked why a range and the lady informed me of soemthing that I can't remember right now, but I know it is posted in a thread around here somewhere.

ok, I just ordered it. I'm sure I won't get it until next week, so I'll touch up the following weekend. I'll post my results.

Okay, y'all I am SERIOUSLY tempted right now. Esp. since I am in hair limbo right now *not sure what I want to do next*

Keeping this foremost in my mind now, but if I get this I'm most definitely self-relaxing because this product is EXPENSIVE!

I know I'm not going to let my hair stylist apply this if I purchase it (that would be too much mula). If I decide to purchase this relaxer, I'll let my sister-in-law that's a hair stylist apply it for F R E E. :D

i might have to give this a go. theres an upscale salon here that sells it, so i may just swing by and get some. :)

:lachen: Girl you are CRAZY!! :lachen:

I placed an order with beautyofasite but never received a confirmation email, my card wasn't charged so I ordered from Hair Boutique. I didn't get any samples of anything though. I was using mild Affirm of which I have a big tub. I relax my neighbors daughter so it will get used just not on my head anymore. I didn't experience any damage and my hair is soooo silky and shiny and has a mean swing. I was hoping to get to Luisa's on Saturday but that depends if we get anymore snow.

i have two of the index 2s sitting in my house waiting for me to use them. My mom said she'd put it in for me so I won't have to pay a salon. Hopefully the 2 isn't too strong for my hair.

I usually leave a little wave in my hair when I relax....my way of making sure I have some body instead of the straight flat hair....but I have great body with this index 2. My hair is very straight with body. I guess I'm just used to using mild products and will try index 1 next time. Although I don't mind my hair this straight since it's not flat but fabulous!!!

Psst. Hey DSD,

You know you want to try it. Don't fight it girl...Sell that affirm stuff and get with the PhytoRelaxer. You won't be disappointed. If you do decide, I know where to find you...A pusha keeps track of interested clients. :lachen:

Girl, you are a trip! :lachen: I am actually leaning to buy it. I won't relax for another five weeks. I will make up my mind soon.

I think all this PhytoRelaxer talk is getting to me. Last night I had a dream that I was touching-up and my MIL needed something so we were off on some wild goose chase w/her. All along though I had this relaxer still in my hair (& it was really long too ;) ). Periodically I would recall that the relaxer needed to be rinsed and would panic about all of my hair falling out when I rinsed it. So to calm myself I kept reminding myself of this thread and the post that said some person left Phyto in for an hour w/o a problem. :nono:  Just madness I tell ya.
