I just decided to join the Steam Challenge a few minutes ago and it had me thinking about my relaxing ritual. I plan to relax my hair this Saturday and I want to know can you relax and steam hair on the same day? If so, could you tell me your process and products used?

Yes........I always Relax & Steam on the Same day.

No Worries!

I relax, mid-protein, neutralize, co-wash & then DC w/Steam. I usually use something like:

AO GPB
AE Garlic
Lamaur Bone Marrow
SSI Fortifying DC Masque
*any kind of Deep Conditioning Treatment, Hair Rebuilder or Balanced DC'er*
And I steam afterwards for at least 30 -45 minutes.

I don't.

After the hair shaft is open from relaxing, proteining and all that neutralizing, I want the cuticles closed ASAP to give it a break. I resume steaming about 3 or 4 days after.

I just want to :bump: this just in case others could use the info.

I have steamed after relaxing with both color and conditioner....I have seen this done in salons as well... the key is when rinsing - rinse with cool water as this close the cuticles...

Thanks ladies I really appreciate your responses.

I have never steamed but would love to give it a try-especially after a relaxer!
