Do any of you natural ladies do anything different when it comes to winter. I live in New England so it gets cold and it snows. Im hoping my hair at least covers my ear by then because if bot I look weird in a hat : /

This is when I pull out my 'heavier' Conditioners for both Cowashing and DC'ing/Steaming.

Also, my Butters, Grease and heavier Hair Cremes & Oils.

I am actually thinking about that as well.

I have a winter stash. I like light glycerin based products during the spring/summer, so in fall/winter I tend to go w/ heavier glycerin free products.

Well I'm right across the sea and I think we get similar weather.

In the winter I up heavy sealing with heavy butters and pomades or grease like items.

I use my keratin medium treatment without fail.

I use my steamer possibly every wash day.

I stay away from glycerin, some humectants and smoothing products. I might use a rinse out though IF I know I'm going to be lazy and airdry.

I cannot airdry my hair, so rollersets are a must.

I moisture with a water based moisturizer and seal every other day, even if I don't need to.

I pay attention to dew points to better plan for the weather and what products I should be using. When the dew points are too low, I stay away from moisture drawing products and moisturize the same day early.

Last, I stick up on gel.

Please excuse my iPhone; it's trying to get it together

Thanks guys! My hair is so short that I can't really protect my ends from the elements so I am trying to figure out what to use on my poor ends. I will be experimenting with heavy butters soon.

This is also the time when I use most of my Cleansing Conditioners to remove all the Butters, Oils, Heavy Cremes etc....

You might want to try to touch those ends with JBCO or Wheat Germ Oil or Hairveda's Cocosta Oil (makes a great end-sealing Oil).

I live in Michigan where the winters get evil cold, so I use heavier products with little to no glycerin (preferably no glycerin). I have a few products stored in my closet, especially for winter.

I may also bring back JBCO for the winter. It's too heavy for my hair in the summer.

I definitely won't be going out with a wet bun in the winter. My natural hair is now a little past shoulder length and it takes HOURS to dry in a bun. Besides that, I think I will switch to using a heavier oil as a pre poo and a heavier conditioner as a leave in. (No more honey until it gets warm again). Just be careful of hats and scarves during the winter. Cotton and wool can dry out your hair, but then again so can the cold weather.
