Starting to get the color itch...help a sistah out

Ok ladies,

It's been 1 yr and 3months since I've been all natural and now I'm starting to get that itch..I want some color

I'm also on a budget so I won't be going to the salon.

How many naturals have had success in highlighting their own hair???

What products did you use?

I'm trying to go back to this color in the pic below:
*sigh* I miss that color

How about using hair mascara? if done properly, it can look great--and it's not damaging.
