Does ANYONE use them or are they a big no-no?

These are the type that are in question: http://www.dollardays.com/images/s07/image2/jc-519.jpg

I ask because I have a drawer of them (never used) and I dont know whether I should try or toss them.

What are the pro's / con's of them, I have yet to see anyone mention them here

TIA

I have the satin covered sponge rollers by hype hair. They are better since they dont dry out your hair.

:nono:

I would not use these unless they are covered w/ something. Why? Because the spongey material of the roller can soak out the moisture from your hair and leave you with dry hair. The spongey material is also a nono because it gets caught on the hair, many ladies are careful about what materials they let their hair touch. Only silk or satin.
Maybe you could get some end papers to put over the sponge rollers (I'm not sure if these are good or bad) soaked in oil. I've done this before.
I used to use sponge rollers but only when my hair was soaking wet and I used lots of oil.
Now, the only rollers I use are the magnetic kind. Even though I still have satin covered sponge rollers and the regular sponge rollers laying around.

Do you use the magnetic rollers at all?

Pros:
My hair stayed curlier w/ sponge rollers
Using the satin covered ones are better than the regular ones.

Cons:
Can cause the hair to snap
Can cause the hair to be dry

I use them and I am bout to throw them away! They are pulling my hair out. Yes ma'am. I say dont use those or get the satin ones cuz thats what I am about to do.

I haven't used them in years.

I wanted to buy some though and then buy a satin scarf to cut-up and cover the rollers.

Too much work though.

That all makes sense. I use magnetics for my rollersets...I was considering using the sponge ones because its impossible for me to sleep on the magnetics

I second the satin covered sponge rollers comment. That's the only way to go if you want something that's not impossible to sleep in. :yep:

Yeah, I totally understand what you said about sleeping on the magnetics! I got used to it though.

When I wet set my hair or for special exents I roller set. I use black sponge rollers with end wraps and my hair is fine. :)
