I tried my spoolies on the ends of braids and I do not like them. I couldn't get the tension I needed to roll and they slid right out. I like perm rods much better. Much more secure.Report back if you try this method!

3b/c mix. Skill is everything. I did curlformers once on most of my length (my hair was too long for the ones I had) and my hair was a perfect smooth spiral. The curls didn't last a day for me though. Maybe I should've combed them out. I could see them being a great roller setting tool if I had a set long enough for the length of my hair.What's your hair type? Does that factor into your roller choice or just skill?
I get smoothest sets from curlformers, but my hair holds a curl so nicely, I could use anything and get curls to set on it. For me, it's ease of use and time to install, primarily.
