:ohwell: This sucks.

I'm currently wearing my hair slicked/pulled back in a phony-bun and it's getting boring and bleh. And I don't feel like wearing my hair out in a TWA...I've done that twice already and I don't want to do it again. At the same time, I don't want to relax it again.

:ohwell: There just has to be a cute conservative style that I can wear...there just has to be??

It does suck. Sorry:)

I wore my hair slicked back for 14 months so I feel your pain.

Maybe you and a friend can hit the BSS and see if you can find a wig to change it up a bit. I'm style challenged so that's the most I can contribute.

Stay Strong!;)

I haven't had this experience and don't have any advice...I just wanted you to know I'm wishing you well. Hang in there girl! (((HUGS)))

Have you tried braidouts or twistouts? They're cute styles, they blend in well with your natural hair (NG), they're low manipulation styles, plus they’re easy to do. I recently started wearing braidouts again after wearing buns and french rolls for the last 6 months or so, they're nice styles, but I wanted to wear my hair "out" more w/o resorting to heat, plus I didnt want to do anything drastic like BC, since that's not an option for me. So far I'm loving it, I plan to wear braidouts for the rest of my transition, only alternating between buns and french rolls every so often, this way I wont become bored again. :)

Other than braid outs and twist outs, you could try roller sets/rod sets, straw sets, french rolls, braids, or wigs as JC mentioned.

Good Luck!

I got my hair cut in a short style, the longest part is maybe 2 inches above my new growth, and the shortest part is just new growth. It is more work to maintain, but I wear flat twist in front and use a curling iron to stlye the relaxed ends ONLY in the back....
this works for now, but I will be getting a micro- braided bob in a few weeks

Sweet Ambrosia's advice is dead on. There are plenty of low manipulation styles that will blend the two textures, allowing you to wear your hair down.

I would get a blowout when I tired of the slicked back bun. I had lots of new growth, as I'm used to long stretches and even did a long stretch when I transitioned before my BC. It never broke my hair off, and it lasted for the week.

Sorry girl! I feel your pain. It's a tough road sometimes. usually when me and my hair start getting sick of each other I put in some nice twists w/ extensions and wear those for a few weeks until I get over my frustration. it's saved me many a time from cutting it all off:look: or perming:look: . Keep your head up though. This too shall pass.;)

I feel you on being frustrated. I just started braiding my hair down and wearing a half wig and I am loving it. I get no breakage because I am not manipulating my hair at all and I get instant style. I also gave myself a big chop date and that has gave my something to work toward.
