Spinoff: Are you okay with being called ma/mama/mami/baby

My husband rarely calls me by my first name. He used to call me babe/baby, but our daughter started calling me that so now he calls me mama and I call him daddy. No big deal. His mother doesn't like him calling me mama, but that's another story for another day.

I wouldn't mind if my SO did, but I find it's random men I don't even know, and casual acquaintances who are trying to call me that and it gets on my nerves. :ohwell:

Ditto!

Some kids around 10-11 years of age called me Sexy Mami not too long ago. :nono:

I  being called "mami" or "mai" (by guys from the culture where this is common), but not mama, ma, baby, babe etc. I'm not even sure why.

I only give a pass to latinos for that mami papi sh*t.

I dont want to be called any variation of the word mother by anyone besides my kids.

I think its weird to call your SO daddy. I got one of those already, no need for more.

DH and I call each other baby.

I remember my uncle and aunt(elderly) would refer to each other as mama and papa. I thought it was the cutest thing. Well, I do find old people cute in general so maybe thats why.

I am southern and I have seen plenty of couples(again, mostly older) refer to each other as mama and papa. I wonder if it's a southern thing?

anyway, my husband calls me mama and I don't have a problem with it. Yes, we have a daughter, but he has called me that even before she was thought of LOL. He also calls me baby. I prefer mama. Wait, does this make us ghetto? Oh well - *walks off waving my ghetto flag in the air like I just don't care*

But yea, as long as what my baby is calling me is from the heart and not offensive, I'm not trippin'.

I wouldn't want him to call me ma, mami, or any variation of that. I wouldn't mind if he called me 'baby,' but he only does that when he's sick.
I get very creative with the names that I call him and wouldn't want him to call me the same thing that the guys on the street trying to holla call me.

When we first started dating, he called me Ma once. I called him Oedipus. That was the last time he called me Ma. :look:
