My hair came out a huge soft poof of medusa curls. Maybe my hair's not long enough? Or maybe the twists were too tight?? My 70% air dried relaxed hair is not straight at all, it's wavy, so I guess this technique won't work for me. Oh well, I'm back to my flexi rod curls for now.

I'm so sorry! Looks like I'm going to have to come up w/a list of trouble-shooting steps! I don't think it's the length but the wave may have something to do w/it since mine is super-straight. Maybe if you apply a little more leave-in before you twist it will calm it down a bit? A cremy one like Salerm might be a good option. Work w/it a little bit! Maybe we'll get some more success stories of how others are tweaking my method (especially those w/wavier textures to begin with).

Don't give up! It took me a while to get it right too

Re: SOUTHERNGIRL - how do you...My Problem Too

I've tried it 3 times thus far (including last night with half dried hair and 6 large twists and pincurls) and I always have way too many curls. I also have a lot of volume, but my hair will do that when it is curly. I want the wavy look you had -it is soooo pretty. I have very, very curly hair when it dries naturally. Maybe I have to abandon the idea??? I don't want to because I want the waves (lol)! I just loved your result Southern Girl!

Oh no!! I'm so sorry! I'd hate for you to abandon the idea, but I think you're right. The difference may be because the state of your hair when it's wet and air-dried is curly. Mine on the other hand is bone-straight, so I think that's why my curls fall limp. I would love to have the natural curl that you do, because then I'd just wash-n-go!!

I'm not sure if this will work, but maybe if you just do even fewer pin curls- like maybe even one on either side of your head? That may or may not work. I'll keep my fingers crossed though!

SG your hair was so beautiful i had to try this for myself. I love the results, although i have a little frizz going on. Next time I'm gonna spritz the ends with some water and see how it goes. I put up some pics of my roller set and pincurls.

Zoya,

I'M SO PROUD OF YOU /images/graemlins/dance7.gif!!!

I just looked at your photo album and I love the way your pincurls came out. Is your hair texturized? You said it was frizzy, but I kind of like it when it comes out a little frizzy. I think it makes the curls look more natural.

Way to go!!

Yeah Zoya, you did a good job. /images/graemlins/clap.gif I can really see the twisty curls. I want to try also, but I'll wait until my next relaxer, because it will be easier to work with.
