Something Very Weird happened to Me While Doing My Hair!

So, everyone knows how they seperate their hair while doing something and one strand gets caught in the wrong section and they just pull it out? Well, I did that but it came out straight from the root! I could feel it pulling from my scalp, so you know the LHCF in me had me look at it to see its condition and it was perfect and long. But guess what, it was NO WHITE BULB!:perplexed It was black and sticky like when I touched it and the texture was kind of weird. Granted, I have a weird 3b/c texture in the back but the part that needed to be touch up was straight like the relaxed part.

So, what do you guys make of this?:look:

Thanks ladies. I know, it seems very "different" to say the least.

The only time I've seen bulbs like that were when I would pluck my eyebrows.:look:

Could it have possibly been a black head in your scalp? I think they're possible, right? You CAN get them anywhere else on your body... Did you just see one hair like that? If not, you may want to contact your dermatologist.
ETA: A blackhead attached to a hair I mean.

I see this sometimes when I pluck my eyebrows. Sometimes I see a white bulb, sometimes I see what you described. I think it was because that baby was not ready to be pulled out yet. Apparently that white bulb is only visible in hairs that at the end of the telogen phase.

I've never, ever had a black head on my scalp. Or atleast I've never seen one.

But this was very sticky like.

I just googled and got this from a site:

Hair that is in the growing stage has a dark, pigmented bulb. Hair that is in the resting stage has a white bulb.

I remember reading something like this before but it never happened to any hair on my scalp.

My hair is very fine especially in the back but in the crown, I can pull a strand that is in the wrong section with no problem and it won't pull out from the scalp. I learned my lesson though.

:yep:

Hair that I accidentally/on purposefully PULL OUT - can either have a white bulb, or a black one (the white bulb actually looks like a 'cover' on the black one, really - I think you can 'scrape' the white part off), and the black bulbs are sticky - will stick to my fingers, fingers nails, skin, anything!!! but all the hair that sheds naturally has a white bulb, and isn't nearly as sticky.
Sounds like you just pulled out a still growing hair, tis all.

I do my own waxing, and I always check the wax or strip to see what was waxed off. I always see the little black bulb the OP discribes. Like someone else said I believe that happens when the hair was taken before it's time. No big deal!

:yep:, yup I co-sign, thats exactly what happened. it was a fresh still growing strand of hair you pulled out. when you get the ones with the white part on it and its NOT sticky, its a shed hair.if you ever get it again, squeeze the black sticky part and look at your fingers. you will have little bit of black stuff on it, like ink (thats your melanin). sometimes I would pull a strand of my hair out just so i could see that (I know, im weird :perplexed)
