Something Like A Phenomenom...

Do you think you can encourage yourself to actually MAKE your hair grow faster?

Do you believe in the placebo effect?

I really believe that personally, when i believe my hair is growing or if i believe something will work, it does! As soon as i doubt something, a vitamin or a product it just doesn't work!

Has this phenomenom (sp? lol) happened to anyone else?

I believe this always happens, not just with our hair but everything else in life. I don't call it the placebo effect, which has a slightly different meaning. When we believe without a shadow of a doubt that something we want in our lives will come to pass, it will - positive as well as negative things. It has to do with quantum physics.

this is a really inspring thread and i have noticed that exspecially with hair growth and using mtg. i went in thinking that mtg was a mirical oil and that i couldn't fail with it.... i swear my hair has gained 3 inches in a two month period ( hopefully this confession dosen't slow my growth now ) lol

I was reading something interesting last night. a Quantum pshysics (sp?) genius (isis you got me all curious!) was basically saying that the past is the only thing we can say is solid. He then said it isn't because the past is experienced by everything in the world, and that person or thing viewed and lived it in a different way...its kind ahard 2 explain but he then said positive thinking leads to positive outcome because if you envision your future, you can work at the present moment to achieve it. the phrase "i wish i knew then what i know know" can be flipped on its head. educate yourself as to how you are GOING and WANT to be in a years time, 5 years 10, and you will get there! I know i wish i could go back i ntime and tell myself to still carry on writing children books...i would be makin' dough by now man!

and now i've inspired myself so i'm going to go and talk to my future person talking to my past which is now the present!

well said! i may have to pick up that book, i've become a book worm as late.

I guess it also co-incides with the fact that if you are around somebody who is crying all the time, reliable and clingy, your spiritual energy is sapped slowly. I know when i'm around ill people i try my best to bring them out. i think you can always switch a situation buy looking at the other angle...

yeh my hair WILL get to waistlength, and if for some reason it doesn't get there as quickly, i can always have fun trying!

It is so. Well yanno, God made us in his image, just like he speaks life into words, we to have that ability. Therefore I beleive anything is possible... even with hair, i shall be getin 1.5 - 2inches per month consistantly

And, everything you have said here, is PRECISELY the reason you will see me get irritated when there are LHCF threads and discussions on "What is your terminal length?" and "Hair Length/Health/Strength is Genetic" and "Do you have a realistic goal?" It's all self-defeating energy. Why would I try and grow my hair and also discuss and contemplate that my hair has a stopping point? Or that my goal is unrealistic?

Lol - I was just lecturing a friend about this yesterday. He is going through a rough time and I is using all his energies to pull himself down further. I told him nothing good will ever come his way because he does not believe it will.

BELIEVE.

OK, but this is easier said than done.

In primary school I had short fingernails. I wanted them long (not like claws but something other than my stubby little nails). This went on for years. No matter what I did my nails would strip and break. Then one day they didn't. I realize I was focused on them. Stopped the manicuring etc and just let them live. Since then my nails have always been long. Why? Because the psychological barrier was broken. If a nail broke I knew it was grow back so no sweat.

The same with my hair. It's been the same length for as long as I've known myself. Then one year it grew 1/2 way to APL. I remember thinking my hair has never been this long before. Wow. Since then I've cut my hair but never sweat getting it to that point because I had proof. Now that I am ready to go further I've told myself that just like it grew to APL it will grow longer. Have faith and let it be.

For me, believing is half the battle…action is the other 50%. So, I take care of my hair and do what I have to do. But I also have to believe what I am doing will yield the results I desire. I know it's a little out of context, but “…Faith without works is dead” and I take that to heart. The two go hand-in-hand.
