This is hard. I believe that there are SO many variables when trying to use growth aids that it is hard to pinpoint which one.

Genetics, the weather, medicine, vitamins, other topical agents.

No one can really know for sure and single out ONE growth aid unless they did an actual clinical study.

I ordered MT. I have progress pictures for 6 months of growth using random stuff.

I will do a 6 month trip w/ MT and then compare the two.

My thing is that your hair is gonna grow regardless! People mistake megagrowth for just plain 'ol human hair growth sometimes.

They only way i can believe its something more than plain ol human hair growth is if you did a consistent progress trail dating over at least 2 years to compare.

For example, do 6 months using NOTHING, 6 months using MT/OCT, 6 months using homemade growth aids, and then 6 months using something else.

POST ALL THOSE 6 months trials to really see if one worked over another and you need a baseline for comparison. A constant.

That makes perfect sense!

I know MT works. Honestly when I first got it, I thought okay I will try it out and just see. Because I really didn't think it would do anything. But when I got an inch that first month, I was convinced. I thought my dh was lying when he measured my hair on the progress shirt but the proof is in the pictures. Q

It surely does work, whether folks want to believe it or not...it works.

My hair has never been this healthy and beautiful since I've been on this forum and it's because of using the OCT/MT.

Like Q said...proof is in the pictures!:yep:

Let me start by saying, I never believed in MTG. :lachen::look:

BUT I will say my answer is a combination. I think some growth aids work, but you have to be consistent and lot of people won't even take a regular vitamin everyday, so don't expect them to remember to apply their hair products when they are supposed to.

BUT I also think that for some it's all in their heads. Because their regular growth rate could be 1/2 to 1 inch a month, but because they weren't retaining it, it looked like their hair wasn't growing.

A true comparison would be to do whatever it is that you were doing before as far as your weekly routine. The only difference would/should be MN or MT or MSM or Biotin. If it grows and retains 6 inches, THAT'S a real sign of a growth aid working. If you are not only taking growth aids but you're simultaneously treating your hair better, you will never know if a growth aid works.

That's so true.

I agree. I'm doing the same things to my hair now as I was before starting OCT/MT...there is a difference and a noticable change after I started using it, that's why I KNOW that it works!

When I was using BT, it certainly worked, but it took much longer for me to see results than with OCT/MT. Also, consistancy is the key...I was very consistant with BT and saw a difference as well.

:yep:

Technically, I'm actually treating my hair WORSE now, because I'm manipulating it daily, whereas before, I was only touching it once a week - and I'm still getting excellent results!

And definitely - consistency is KEY, and I suspect it's why there aren't many who have gone from bald to BSL (which is a usual dissenting opinion as to why GA's don't work) because most people don't use it consistently for the year, minimum (BSL is at least 22-24 inches on most folks - so I'm thinking a 2 inches a month max growth rate, with a trim or two) that it would take to do it.

I feel you. My dh who really doesn't pay attention to my hair noticed it. He is happy to check my progress for me. Even he is shocked. :yep: Q

My dh as well. He comes into the bathroom and looks at my hair and says that it's sooooo healthy and beautiful....more than before!

The one thing I know for sure is.....change!

This is true...and some ppl don't wait to discover if it's truly a retention issue before they jump on the growth aide bandwagon.
When their hair starts inching down their necks/backs they think it has to do with the aid--when there's a more reasonable explanation for it all...they are now taking care of their hair well enough to retain length.
We have to consider all possibilities...

I ALMOST made this mistake. My hair grows somewhere between 1/2 and 1 inch...but my hair would break. If I'd been using topical aids this whole time I could have assumed it had to do with that...

But...I dunno know if the aides work.
Now that I know how fast my hair grows, I can prolly test it out to see if I see progress. It'd be fantastic if I sprouted an extra 1/2 inch.
But--I won't stick to that sort of regimen.
I know me.
MTG is the only growth aid I've ever ownd. Bought it practically a year ago and it's STILL sitting in the bathroom.

i think growth aides can only do so much. i sure some work better than others but the intention is to only speed up the growth rate. and im sure alot of growth aides come up short.

idk... sometimes i think.. like whatever happened to just being patient and allowing the hair to just grow normally..
