I agree, I'd be pissed beyond pistivity too especially since it was one hell of a post BUT the fact still remains that the thread that it was posted in over there, you did not post in. The original poster noticed her post over here and said something over there. I understand you were addressing a pet peeve but reality is you bring it up over here is adding fuel to "their" fire.

You are just an innocent pawn in their game; which we on here don't care to play.

:perplexed...what did I call you Daeuiel...please don't make this into something it's not.

I will not make this into something it's not. You called me a pawn. I am controlled by no one by myself. Understand that I bear you no ill will and that I hold you in exactly the same regard as I did before this thread :yep:

Ol' Five head harbors no ill feelings towards you Daeuiel...I truly believe it was done innocently.

Lawd...I'm not a fan of the name calling on their side, I just don't like the post stealing. I wonder if Mis007 is ever going to come back and explain that. :ohwell:

I got it growing up because I spoke the Queens English as opposed to the King's English (King's County - Brooklyn) as I refer to it. I grew up in the hood, not around a bunch of Jack & Jill kids, so it wasn't cool to speak standard American English and have good grades. That was ACTING WHITE where I came from. And I liked New Kids on the Block! So you know I caught hell.

I heard it from black people mostly but I have had a white guy say to me once that I was an oreo for knowing the words to a particular song. It's real simple, you turn it back on them, let them know that's the most racist thing they can say, they get the point real quick. "So you are saying that because I'm black I can't listen to various types of music? Oh, black folk are only supposed to like hippity-hop but you are free to have your own tastes and a personality but I'm just supposed to drop-it-like-it's-hot and go on Maury to find my baby-daddy?" They don't like to hear it, but it's exactly what they are saying. :yep:

Regarding hair, I remember back in the day the girls who bleached their hair or wore weaves were the ones "trying to be white". Not even relaxing your hair, or having long natural hair, but once you went blonde you "sold out".

I rarely flat iron my hair. When my (black) co worker saw my hair flat ironed she said "oh u mixed today, huh?" Smh, why I gotta be mixed? Can I just be black? I'm white if I flat iron my hair and it blows in the wind, I'm white because I speak proper english (at least at work)... Ugh! My people... But as I am going natural the question is "when r u gonna perm your hair? u wanna go natural but it's just a phase, it won't last!" :cry2: I can't.

Same with working hard in school..I worked my butt off to get where I am, and someone telling me that I wanna be white is sure as hell not going to stop me!
Neither is calling me a geek...neek...nerd..bleek (black geek)...blerd (you can guess)..boffin....boff..
OK imma stop...getting a bit bitter here LOL

LOL!!! you oughta join me on the fb group called the black nerds! I gotta get a t-shirt of that shyt. I'm proud of my black nerdiness! :lachen:

I haven't been told directly that I "act White" but I have had people say to me that they don't understand how I can socialize with various kinds of people (ie non Black folk). I am a very difficult person to put in a box. It would annoy me if people told me that I act this race or that race. I can like tattoos and piercings, read the works of Dubois, and listen to salsa music and be beautifully Black. If I decide to relax my hair and grow it out down to my ankles instead of towering to the heavens I would still be Black.

What I find sad is that more often than not lately I have been hearing about how awful Black people are from Black and White people and it's annoying the hell out of me.

Lol yeah. Even still people say that. The way I talk makes ppl believe I "act white". As a kid my sisters and I would get in trouble for speaking incorrectly. I was raised to speak proper English so that's how I talk now. People say I talk/act like a valley girl. I've been accused of being an oreo, uppity, siddity, bougie, etc. But it doesn't bother me. It's how I was raised and I'm grateful. Kanye shrug to those who don't like it.

What is crazy is that if white people tan "heck no they are not trying to be black" where did you get that notion, it is because they go on vacation and such and such.

If they get their hair's permed it is because they are not trying to look black
if they get botox in their lips it is because they bit it by mistake and it looked nice.

If we relax we have problems,:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

They feed us any crock of **** and we bite! *********!!!!!

I had PLENTY WHITE WOMEN in the industry and men tell me I am blessed and how white women pay to look like this.

I was in MACY"s complaining of my lips and a group of white older women said are you sick, your lips are beautiful and told me closely I pay lots to have lips like that!

ALL women are beautiful creatures! Just don't feed me fly sugar honey Ice Tea and think I am going to eat it!

Back to your regular scheduled program!

She doesn't owe you an explanation. And I really wish you would keep that messiness over there!

She brought the 'messiness' over when she copied & pasted the post. Someone was bound to notice eventually. Nobody owes anyone anything. The same way you really wish I wouldn't have said anything, I wish she would, but we all have free will so... :look:

No! She didn't. It was an insightful well-argued post--whether she wrote it or not is irrelevant--that contributed something positive to the conversation. You on the other hand, called her out just to cause unnecessary drama and get brownie points with your friends on the other board. What positive contribution did you make by posting that here?

I appreciate insightful, well argued posts. You may have the opinion that who actually writes them is irrelevant, but I do not share that opinion. You may assume whatever motives on my part that you like, but the only reason I pasted a link to the original post was because I don't agree with using the words of other people without attributing the quote to that person. It's as simple as that.

I'm not trying to 'get brownie points' with anyone on either forum. They will rag on whomever they like, regardless of what the subject of their jokes says or does. I've been made fun of by them before and I'm sure I will be again  My personal standing on the forums or whatever you would like to call it, has not 'leveled up' as a result of this and I really don't care about such things anyway. I am just a nerd who likes to cosplay and enjoys originality. I treat people the way I would like to be treated and that's it.

Dreadlocks is long because is shed hair trapped since it doesnt"fall out" it locs itself creating lenght, but thats not because the hair itself is that long .

Actually, I have to disagree with your statement here. Even though the bulk of the loc is made up of shed or fallen hair that has matted together, there are still literal strands of hair attached to the head that are that actual length. The only reason I can say this is because of the numerous videos on YT I've seen of females physically taking down their locs (as opposed to cutting them) and having a head full of hair afterwards. It's the same concept with protective styling, the ends of your hair are "hidden" or tucked away, which protects them from the outside elements. Then, after a certain period of time, you take out the PS. Next, you carefully remove the shed hair that had collected that you couldn't remove before. Your actual hair has still retained length, despite the loss of shed hair.

Wait, are you serious? She exposed someone fronting and stealing someone elses work and you're mad at her?!:spinning: lmbao, has it gotten that bad here that standards could sink so low? Thank you Daeuiel for exposing the truth, if folks want to share someone elses work then they need to credit the person or where they got it from point blank. That's honorable and it was honorable of you to point it out.

Oh no u di-in't!!!:lachen: Why it gotta be all dat???? No, seriously, I was a Jack and Jill kid and many times felt I couldn't relate. Mainly because most of the Jack and Jill kids lived and went to school in almost completely white environments--and sounded white. I also had friends (non-Jack and Jill kids) who changed the way they spoke to sound like the white girls we went to school with, knowing when they came home, rode the bus, etc...they didn't sound like that. I actually don't equate "Sounding white" with being articulate or speaking proper English, I think it's just tones of voice, certain pronunciations, and inflections. I'm very articulate and speak intelligently, but no one ever accused me of sounding or acting white, but I know enough people who have experienced it to know it does happen. Why can't we just be "nerds?" Dang!

Just remembered when I was in college some random guy comes up to me and says "You date White boys don't you?" Who says things like that to a person? I guess I was supposed to be offended but I dated dorky guys for the most part regardless of race. I didn't realize embracing a variety of cultures was a sin against mankind.

ive already been told lots of times that im "bounty" or wanna be white just because i dont wear extensions (weaves, wigs, braids...some time i do braids ) any way. thats bull****.

I dont wear them cause im lazy to do my hair (even sitting down having someone doing it) and they itch my scalp. But i would love to try whatever i want. We are supposed to be in a world where each person does what he wants!

Without people judging

I feel you 100% on this. I spoke proper, but I didn't sound like a damn valley girl! When I hear Black (and Asian) girls who put that affect on their voice is annoys the $h!t outta me!!! It sounds so fake. That should be the real designation for "talking like a white girl", not speaking in Standard American English.

Been there, done that and got the t-shirt. It's weird, 'cause the three guys who's said that to me werenon-black. :spinning: and hit them with a 'well, do you?'

ha ha
BEAUTYU2U posted in another thread that her mother believes if you want long hair you "wanna be white"

It suddenly occured to me that people who say things like that must believe being white is the ultimate goal to reach, why else would they say it? i mean no one ever says "oh, you wanna be Asian" or "dang gurl why you act so cambodian?"

so i was just wondering how many of you ladies have been accused of wanting to be white or actting white because of your hair, or the way you speak?

LOL

since i was 6 all i can remember is that i have always been called "the white girl" no matter how old i get when i am among my friends i am always considered the white girl. i think its mostly due to how i speak rather than my color or hair goals because its been this way my whole life.
