Sheabutta bay-bay. This is some good stuff!! I purchased the unrefined (real) shea butter from a flea market and lemme tell ya, this stuff is so moisturizing for my hair. It is like a multipurpose butta because when I glide some of it on my skin, you can't get me out of the mirror. I be glistening from head to toe

Any suggestions on where I can find some? I've heard that it's great stuff but don't know where a flea market is or any other place to purchase some.

UmSumayyah, thanks for providing that link. I've been wanting to try pure Shea Butter for a while and I think I'll order from here!

I never knew that Sheabutter could be used for hair. I have some that I was using for my face, now I can use it on my hair too. I'm so slow. :whyme:

girl, im with ya on the sheabutter!!!! i put some on my hair two days ago and its STILL soft....i havent put anything else on my head! its good stuff!

I love unrefined sheabutter on my ends too. I use it a lot during the winter.

How do you apply it to your hair? do you melt it first?

Can someone tell me how they apply it wet/damp/dry and with what othe products ....I've tried it but it just makes my hair really greasy??

i mostly use it on wet hair or damp hair....on wet hair i put it on after my leave in/detangler and i usually braid it up to let it air dry.....when my hair is already dry, i usually just dampen the ends with my moisture spritz and slather it on.....

its greasy at first, but my hair soaks it up really quickly....i did this tuesday and put my hair in some big cornrows...im taking them down right now and my hair is STILL soft...i havent done anything to my hair but spray my scalp with surge and keep it tied (im on break from school and i have nowhere to go, so i can do that :D )

i think shea butter is the best thing for natural hair (but im sure im biased).....i usually melt it and add some EVOO to it and its kind of a gritty consistency until i rub it between my palms....then its smooooooove :)

Loving all things shea butter, (have several folders in my hair album dedicated to it) it truly is the miracle product for hair.

Now I am in love with it's lighter cousin shealoe butter...shea butter mixed with aloe. Talkin about soft and light....you aint seen soft!!!!

My next step is to mix emu oil with it (excellent for hair growth) and see how that works. Keep checking out the album for the chronicles of "As the Shea butter Churns!" :)

Bajanplums, I mix mine with FOTE Aloe Vera. Check my 'Anything you can do, I can do better' album.

Bublnbrnsuga, I do the same thing with my shea butter. It's great on my ends and for slicking my hair back into a bun.

ok...you have motivated me to try it again. I still have a whole lb left from when I bought it ages ago.

Thanks I love u girls....xoxoxoxo

Does shea butter go bad? Maybe I should go out throw that out and go get some more....What is the shelf life of shea butter?

I'm planning on melting some shea butter with coconut oil and then adding a little grapeseed and castor oil to it so I can spread it easily, even if its a little cold. Can't wait to try it!

shea butter has in EXTREMELY long shelf life! if you just leave it out, it can last up to two years....it will last longer if you keep what youre not using in the fridge and even longer in the freezer....so, im pretty sure youre okay :D

i did it with coco oil, EVOO and some pure coco butter....and a little lavender EO....it smells pretty and is so moisturizing!

I bought my unrefined shea butter from a vendor on 125th Street in Harlem. I melted the shea butter in the microwave and mixed it with Vanille Monoi Oil...it became semi solid and I stored it away. I use the mixture on my wet hair before I blow dry. It smells soooooooo good! My hair soaks it up-I love it!!!

Thanks Shatani, that's good to know. I've had it for a little less than a year. I will be using tonight after my conditioner wash.

Ok, I ordered from the site that was posted. I got some unscented Shea Butter and some black soap. Just waiting for my order to arrive so I can post my thoughts on Shea butter. I'm sure I'll love it though!

Ok, I've been using my Shea Butter for the past few weeks and it is the BOMB!! This has become a permanent staple for me. It's very heavy so I'll have to see how well it does during the hot summer months, but I love this stuff.

I wash my hair and let it dry almost all the way, melt the Shea Butter a bit in the microwave just to soften it up and then apply. It's great! I ordered from africansheabuttercompany.com. UmSumayyah, thanks again for the link!

I love it too. I use the NOW brand that can be found in healthy food stores. It's the unrefined 100% pure shea butter. I just scoop some out and rub it in my hands until it's smooth enough to apply, then smooth it on. I use it on both wet or dry hair. It's one of my new staples. My hair stays moist for days.

You're very welcome, MizAvalon. I first heard about them when I visited their table at a community event. I took home a pamphlet and a free sample-sized jar. I didn't use it for months but when I finally did, WOW!

I love this too. BUt it breaks my face out :(. And I might get stoned for this but I have to sacrifice my hair for my face. :(.
