I use a maxiglide, so i have steam and a bit of damp...not wet. I love it. My hair has that cool dewy feel for days afterwords. I don't hear a sizzle........if i do, its the heat protectant.

Must admit i was cautious at first until RealuvsanOxymoron insisted. Thanks Real!

Dewy is a good description :yep:

I guess you have to know your hair.

My wet hair cannot handle direct heat. It just cannot.

I blowdry, but it has to be cool/warm and low and without the comb attachment.

Besides, it would take so long!

I think of ironing wet jeans or a shirt. Just not as effective, even if it does nothing bad.

thats for all the feedback from both sides. i am a lil nervous about the sizzling sound but maybe thats the worst thing about it......hmmm

The one time I straightened my hair when it wasn't dry, it wasn't wet like that Kiyoseki girl's hair. I suck at using percentages, but approx. 80-85% dry. I won't lie though, it was silky for days. I mention Cathy Howse and her products too much, but even she says that straightening on wash day is better than straightening the following day, because by the next day it's very dry. On wash day it still has moisture, which allows the hair to retain more moisture and swang.

everytime i straighten my bangs they just came from being washed - hence damp hair ...and i dunno about y'll but i have never heard my hair CRACKLE when i put my flat iron to my hair... i pass it through twice and i hear a faint sizzle and then it is done.

I agree with this. If I airdry and wait until the next day to flatiron :nono:

i know everyone is different and all that stuff but how do YOU feel about it? at first i thought that it would be damaging or something but many ppl have mention doing this and having major silkyness! i know that that doesnt means is good to do though....so how do yall feel about this? :look:

not soaking wet but damp...

The process locks in moisture. I see no issues with it.

I've done it... and my hair was more moist than it ever is if I blowdry then flat iron. My hair takes forever to dry, so straightening and drying at once is just easier. And, I've never had good results with airdrying then flat ironing.

I have to say that this process works very well for my hair... Of course to each her own, but my hair airdries in about 2 hours so when I do flatiron, I wet my hair, apply heat protectant, let it air dry some and the pass the flatiron while it is still damp... My hair is always soft and no damage afterwards...

I will never go back to flat ironing on dry hair again...

I tried it. Didn't like it. My hair didn't get straight, yet my hair still felt the effects of the heat and the sizzling. Won't do it again.

Plus, I use an FHI Platform special edition that is supposed to straighten wet hair.

Yeah I tried it in a inconspicuous spot on my head... The very back, kitchen area... Haha... I didn't dig it so much. I used a heat protectant too, like I usually do, but my hair was wispy and felt dry. Now granted this was the kitchen... haha... but still. I think I am finding my hair likes heat without a middle man. I guess my hair likes to be on the bottom and be dominated... Haha... But more power to the people it works for!... :rocker:

I have a wet/dry flat iron (don't know the brand;from sally's) and I have never used it on wet hair. Not worth the risk for me!

I don't think it's harmful. I don't do it on purpose, but there have been times in the past that I flat-ironed an area of my hair that was slightly damp. It's not a big deal.
