I just realized I've never properly introduced myself (I only said I was a new poster in the middle of a thread a few pages back & started posting away.) Anyway, my name is Khalilah and I've been thoroughly enjoying all of the threads here. What I really like about this board is that everyone seems to be very accepting of others whether one is natural, texturized, or relaxed.

I was natural my entire life though my Mom (she didn't know no better :) ) damaged the back of my head with excessive use of the curling iron. She'd use the back of it to smooth the frizzies then curl the ends under so I could wear my hair like Rudy on the Cosby show. I remember her washing my hair every Friday---with NO conditioner . I got my hair pressed for the first time at about 13 or 14. I learned to do it myself in my late teens and damaged it by doing it way too frequently. I found a natural hair board a while ago and got my hair as healthy as I could, though I still experienced a lot of breakage. Weird, the less I washed my hair, the more hair I'd get in the shower comb (we're talking clumps).

I'm currently in the middle of my first texturizer, and so far I like it. Weirdly, I've been getting a lot less shedding. I'm still able to wash when I want to, get wet in the rain etc. I'm learning more and more on proper hair care from this board. The most recent thing I've learned is the benefits of carrot juice. I've been drinking a little 15oz bottle a day since Sunday (I love the taste!)

Whew, sorry for the long-winded intro!

Welcome Khalilah!

Your natural and texturized pics are beautiful. You did a great job texturizing all of that lovely hair.

Welcome to the board. I love your name, my daughter's name is Kaliyah. Just don't become too much of a PJ!!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! I was a serious PJ while natural, & I've been trying to cut back. (I am going to try the Curling Custard, though.) :yep:
