I hear you ladies refer to "cones". What exactly is this? It sounds like a bad thing if that's the case, how do you know which products contain them???

If you look at the back of one of your conditioners or moisturizers you'll probably notice cyclomethicone (sp) and other words like this ending in cones. This is waht everyone is referring to. Sometimes in some people's hair, cones can tend to build up on the hair shaft and thus preventing moisture from getting into the hair strands. The result is dry hair. THis can be remedied by clarifying. SOme people have a problem with cones and some don't.

Most products contain cones. Whether they are a bad thing or not depends on your hair. On some it creates build up on the hair and consequent drying over time. For those that can tolerate it, it creates slip, amazing ease of detangling, and shine like no other product ingredient IMO. There is ALWAYS some portion of my regime that has a cone heavy product in it.

Look for amodimethicone, dimethicone or other ingredients ending in "cone" to tell which products have it. Dimethiconol is one as well.

I agree with Tracy. I like products that contain cones because they give the hair alot of slip. :)

Thanks ladies for the clarification you're the greatest! So it's not necessarily a good or bad thing huh?
