Sigh, I might invest in a Chi

I have seen too many natural headed ladies who are using Chi and their hair looks relaxed. I have spoken with two ladies on my job who flat iron every 1-3 weeks and they still have their length and their hair doesn't look dry and broken off. They both said that when they wash their hair, it draws right back up in it's natural state.

I am sighing b/c I don't want to actually buy another flatiron when I have the Maxiglide at home. The problem with my Maxi is I can't remove the plates to clean them :wallbash:

I think I will invest in the 1 inch plates instead of the two inch since I believe thinner plates will force me to take smaller sections and not rush through the process.

If this doesn't work, I can always go back to my lovely beautician, but I want to try to flatiron myself, just for the satisfaction.

I was advised to buy one online....it's supposed to be cheaper that way?? I'm still considering a Chi but I am nervous about heat damage as well..

Shootz...I can mail you mine if you'd like. I guess I should have known better and gotten the one with the temp control.

My friend that is natural has one and she uses her Chi weekly or everyother week. Her hair is midback and healthy and it bounces right back to her natural curl pattern when she washes. She is a 3b/3C.

I'm natural and my hair bounces right back also. The chi is the best ironed I've ever used-even with temp control.

See this is what I am tombout! I thought you were relaxed!

Now you've told off on yourself. I need step by step instructions on how you were able to achieve your look, I need products used, too :yep:

i was love with the chi when i 1st bought it but i totally LOVE LOVE fhi much better. plus i find with the chi, it snags the hair. my stylist uses the fhi and then i went one time and the flat irons were snagging my hair. low and behold she was using the chi. i was telling my gf about chi snagging and she was surprised and said her chi was doing that too, she noticed it.

I also had the Chi and mine did the same. I switched to the FHI. Also I found ou the CHI doesn't have Ceramic plates like the FHI, they have regular metal which is coated with ceramic. It caused a lot of damage on my hair (from when I first BCed) so I lost a lot of length:wallbash:--So i say invest in a FHI with temp control. No snags, no pulling, your hair wil just glad through! I promise! lol

I bought mine offa eBay and I have NO regrets. I have nearly 82 weeks worth of NG and about 6 inches of relaxed ends and the Chi blends my NG with the relaxed ends with ONE PASS!!!!! I am NOT exaggerating.

I would say get it and you won't be disappointed, I promise. :crossfingers:

It's funny you mention this b/c I was just about to ask the OP.. "What about an FHI?"

The only iron I have is also the MG, and I'm not in love with it or anything...but my stylist uses the FHI and people think I'm relaxed whenever I get my hair pressed (see siggy below).

I wanna buy an FHI but I wanna invest in a better DRYER first. I think half my problem with self-straightening is in the blow-drying process...

DAMN!

She got EXCELLENT results with her CHI!! :yep: I noticed at the end of her tutorial she mentioned that she bought and FHI recently, and that now she uses both the FHI AND the CHI. She mentioned that she liked them both the same amount, but for different purposes.

This is good to know, I knew I wanted to get solid ceramic plates because they prevent snags and they give off more of the ions that smooth out the hair's cuticle... I can't wait until my nappy anniverary which is Dec. 21st 2009. I will save up and get the top dog FHI because I am worth it and I will have waited a year to straighten my hair !!!! :dance7:

Holy smokes, that's 1 year, 7.5 months of growth, I wouldn't call it new.... How long is your hair now?
ETA: I read your siggy, that's incredible!!! You are going the full transition mile without the BC !!!

ElleDoll i am so happy you posted that regimen...your hair looks bouncy and now i see that it may be because of a) the rollersetting and b) the products. when i use just chi silk infusion i get good results but my hair feels dry; then again the last time i only used that i did not DC first!

i would actually like to try the maxiglide, cause sylver2's tutorial is the bomb...i have a solia and i like it though...i think my money should go towards a better dryer as well since i got the sucky pink ion bonnet dryer and it has already cracked at the hinge. good thing i'm not using heat right now.

i say dont fret over the blower dryer so much, the FHI will take care of it:grin:. try the FHI 1st and see. i also use chi silk infusions too on each section i flat iron. and yes i agree, even with natural hair it straightens the heck out of your hair!!:yep: i too, when i was natural would get mistaken for relaxed hair
