How do you make sure it stays to the side?

It looks really good. I may try this for a wedding I am attending in a couple of weeks.

I used bobby pins but the trick is you have to twist them around and not just stick them through for the bottom twist like she does in the video. I put b pins in the upper back of my hair but i just put them in the regular way.
