Shown more love because your hair is long.

I know I was definitely shown love on here when my hair was shorter by all of the members on here. But I definitely get a lot more questions and PMs now that my hair has grown out some. I understand that though, because I usually PM and ask questions to people who's hair is now what I want mine to become. I feel they are somewhat experts because they have actually gotten their hair to APL or BSL or WL.

I definitely hope that newbies or people with shorter hair feel the love though. I love every length on here. I'll take health over length any day!

I don't necessarily have a problem with it. A person with long hair has what most of us want, we are drawn to them and want to learn as much as possible from them so that we can have long hair too:)

My hair is long but I don't do much to it, I don't have a bangin routine, I don't try new things, and I use heat:eek: so I don't get much love

THe people I see with long hair that get lots of attention are the ones that have really grown their hair out while here and have great tips to help improve length or good no heat options. Also I think the people that are natural and long get more love.

Thats how i feel, when i see someone with great progress i'm more inclined to ask them questions because i want to get where they're at cause they've been doing something right.

IMOHO: I think this is the tendency of new members on the forum to seek out members who have long hair...

HOWEVER, I think that the people who get the most love (often deservingly) are people who have grown their hair out while on the forum...there is proof that their hair wasn't always that long...and they had to work hard, so now everyone wants to learn their tips and secrets (I know I do:lachen: ) HOWEVER, I think that some people don't get as much love as they deserve because people think they had an easier time growing their hair out. I can think of one member in particular who has gorgeous waist lenght (might be longer now) hair that doesn't get shout outs when she goes away for awhile. I think this is do largely to the fact that she as 2c/3a.:look:

   The bolded part is true for me too. Plus I'm way too cheap for expensive products so that pushes me out of many conversations. My hair was already long when I joined so I don't really have pictures of my progress. It's really been long most of my life, minus that time I cut it really short in college. :D (Almost shocked my mother to death!) I do get PMs asking for a regimen and asking how I can use heat so much without having strands that are permanently straight. (I never heard of that until I joined LHCF)

I also think that those who have been here a long time and have really opened themselves up get more love and they deserve it. (Like DLewis for example...you gotta love her!) I look forward to reading from those who have shown their hair growth as well as the growth in their personal life. I feel like I kinda know them (even though it's just through the internet).

Another thing is some people go to meet ups and really get to know people. I'm sure that helps a lot.

Hello,
I admit when I first came here, I paid extra attention to posts by healthy haired folks. Then I found out about all the other forums. all hell broke loose then.

Because of lack of privacy where I work, I change my settings to NOT show siggy pics, avatars and images (It's not cool when a superior walks by and spots a pic of one of you guys...IN YOUR BRA:lol:

The good thing is, the setting change forces me to pay attention to what the poster says and not how long their hair is or how pretty they are. We have some really intelligent ladies on the board and I thoroughly enjoy reading these posts. Which totally defeats the purpose of why I originally joined here, which was to grow ma damn hair:mad: Doesn't change the fact that I love being here surrounded by you all:p Peace.

I show love to people that have my similar texture and have made significant progess going from SL to BSL, while maintaining overall health. I also show love to anyone with thick hair at any length. I may not always leave a comment in their fotki but I will there #1 stalker:look: :sekret:  .

Im a bit biased becuz I do have short hair. So sometimes I feel like I get the 'what could she know' treatment.

Whereas someone who has long hair could suggest that everyone start washing their hair w/ soap shavings, and everyone will jump on the bandwagon cuz hey, she has long hair!!!

But we typically follow after those who have what we want. :) thats true in hair, weight, skin, money, life, personal achievements, etc. So its a typical, natural reaction.

Im more of a health person, myself. I dont really care how long your hair is. But if you have a head of HEALTHY hair, then Im all in. For me health beats out length every day and twice on Sundays. :yep:

I see this on every hair forum I'm apart of. Why is that?

Well here, this is Long Hair Care Forum so naturally, long hair will get plenty love :). Even more though, long healthy hair has been a symbol of femininity and beauty in many cultures for so long that it almost follows that long hair - braided, unbraided etc- will often receive many compliments.

I'm guilty of that myself. But like one poster said, the ladies have already been down the road that I am currently going through. I don't discount information from shorter haired ladies though, I love the moisturizing tips I got from honeydew for example.

I guess to sum it up, I wouldn't try to drive to somewhere I've never been without having a map. Nor would I ask someone broke with poor money management, about investment strategies.

IMO I think people are going to show more love to women who have long, healthy hair that we all strive for. But at the same time you might look at individuals with hair similar to yours for information, advice, and inspiration. Regimens and bandwagons come and go...believe me when I say I might do one thing but depending on time and how I am feeling I might have to change it up. But if it wasnt for site I wouldnt look at half the products I do, stretch as long as I do, laugh at heating tools, and stay away from Edward Scissorhand stylist:eek: All I am sayin is that out of nature the women on here w/ long, flowing locks are going to get more attention because us as black women dont see beautiful heads like this on a daily basis. I stalk short, medium and long hair albums because they are all inspirations for me. Especially the ones who started close to my beginning length and have beautiful, healthy hair that I long for. Sorry so long:D

yes i'm bias, i don't really show love to those that joined with hair already looking good, to me what's the point they could have been born with that hair. Sometimes I think they are just mocking the board(I don't know why) However I do show a large amount of love for those who have progress pics. One particular person I like the fact that she went from a small natural afro to texlexed APL or BSL length. I don't think our hair type is the same but she is my inspiration. I am trying to find those in my hair type or hair phase I show them love too.

Yep! This is me. Similar texture and significant progress is key to me.

Whatchu talkin' bout? Your hair is fabulous!

Well, it is called long hair care forum. I think people pay more attention to the posters that have the hair they want or hair type they can relate to. Being that this is a forum about growing hair long (for the most part) it would make sense that the members who get a lot of responses, PM, etc. would have longer hair. With that said I've seen many posteres who have short hair get a lot of attention (love). I'm obsessed with thick shiny hair so when I see posters with short or long thick, shiny hair I freak out!

I admire any hair (regardless of the length) that looks healthy and thick. But when I want advice on retaining length, I do go to the ladies whose hair is longer than mine; becuase they already have what I'm trying to attain.
BTW: SleekandBouncy if my hair was relaxed, I would want it to look just like yours:D

Same reason the fit chicks on a health board are more popular. Most aren't here for tips on how to have short hair.

For me, it doesn't matter whether someone's hair is longer or shorter than mine. What matters is that it looks healthy, and that what they say about haircare makes sense to me. I've asked questions of ladies with all hair lengths and hair types, and also have given compliments to ladies with all lengths and hair types.

Same here! I agree with everything you said. :yep:

I tend to pay more attention to the ladies with my hair type. When I texlaxed I sought those ladies out, when I was transitioning thats what I went for, and now that I'm natural even though I like looking at all types of hair; I look more at the natural ladies for advice. I dont care about the length as long as I see improvement then I seek knowledge from them. We are all here to learn and you are going to gravitate toward what you are trying to obtain.

When I joined I would ask quesions of those with long hair because that was my goal. I could grow it but I did not know how to take care of it. So I asked those who had experience with long hair and were successful in keeping it healthy. Who better to ask than those who deal with it everyday? To me it is like why would a person ask parenting tips from someone who does not have a child? The one with experience may be better able to help.

It does not really matter to me if the growing out process happened while they were on this board or not. The processes are usually the same-
minimize damage.

I still get Love & Support from about 90% of the Ladies & I have a Twa, I mean even those with Long hair are Encouraging and say keep it up! But like someone else said Long hair is what alot want. Me personally I Look at every Natural Head I see and hope to see a Twa in there album for encouragement, But I hardly see any that start Freshly Bald or Shaved, So for me I want to start Short and build my way up to where I want to be which is Unstretched Shoulder Length, But I Love long hair to, but I want to those that are similar to my texture LOL!!

For many of us this is not our first hair journey. I have had long hair before and have cut it all off out of boredom, falling out, or whatever. I mainly know that my hair will grow long pretty much regardless but I like to know what products everyone is using and maybe how I can do things different this time around to make it even healthier, shinier, than before. I think people make a mistake in thinking that just because someone has short hair they don't know anything about growing hair. Their hair may have been long, short, long, short, long, short, many times...especially for those of us who are...ahem a little bit older.:p
