I was JL in aug I am 2" from APL its very well possible and i had a little set back from extentions.
See my sig.
Every since the mishap in braids I just cornrow under a wig. Do everything in cornrows, wash, dc ets...take out evry 4 weeks then braid back up

I think it is... but I am at shoulder length right now and I want to get to apl. I am keeping my hands out of my hair right now and plaiting it up for the winter. Oh I am not full shoulder just yet.

I say to protective style like crazy & pretty much leave your hair alone. Dc & reduce the amount of heat as possible.

I did it in 3-4 months! All I did was I started co-washing regularly, and moisturized and sealed at least once daily. I looked round and I was APL. 2 months later I was past full APL on the way to BSL.
Protective styles like buns and hal-wigs work well. :)

Yes you can. I did it. I kept my hair in braids and twists. The longer your hair gets the tricker it is to take down twists (with extension). The only advise I can give it to concentrate on your ends and stick with your regi. The first pic was taken in around the first part of Feb 09. and the 2nd was the end of Dec 09.
Sorry for the larger pics, I am horrible at adding photos.

I think height should be factored into this. I did SL to APL in 10 months.

But I'm 5'8 1/2 and my hair grows a half an inch a month.

Someone shorter (esp with a faster growth rate) could do it sooner

Someone taller with the same growth rate could take longer

etc, etc, etc

but yeah it's possible cause I did it :yep:

Good to know bc I am about your height.

of course you can do it in 10 mos... moist/seal & protective styling will be your best friends during this period

Yeah I was wondering if I was the only one thinking that :drunk: Theres is a girl at my school who is armpit length. She has a stubby neck so if you put that hair on anyone else it would only reach shoulder. :look:

When you speak of shoulder length are you talking about right at the shoulder blade or very bottom of the neck? And yes height does play a major factor with the rate of growth! I am 5'10.5 and it will take about that time or longer for me to get to apl!

I follow this EXACT regimen...except my hair is still a TWA...not sure how long it is stretched as I just BC'd recently...

It's doable. I went from SL to APL in 9 months. I did this through protective styling, frequent co-washing, DC'ing with both protein and moisture and made sure to moisture and seal daily.

Yes it's definitely possible. I did it in 6 months, but I'm 5'5 so it makes a difference.

I also had setbacks so I don't think I'm full APL yet. I'm hoping to be by the summer.

Hey, it can definitely be done. I went from about an inch past shoulder to APL in four months. I co-washed and protective styled (bun) the entire time.

I'm gonna admit it. I voted no. Sorry everyone... don't stone me!

I voted from personal experience. I had no idea so many ladies did it in LESS than 10 months! To me... SL to APL takes foreverrrrrrr. It felt the same way when I was relaxed (but I was using heat everyday back then). I returned to LHCF November 2009 when my hair was barely touching my shoulders. I am now a little bit past collarbone but still inches away from APL. I've been PSing and avoiding heat religiously. Granted... this is the most retention I have ever experienced since I joined LHCF so... I dunno why I am an outlier. Maybe I have an abnormally long neck or torso? lol

Good luck! Regardless of how long it takes remain just remain patient because it's worth it. I hope I wasn't too much of a downer. I'm going to find that thread about APL taking forever to make me feel less like an outcast lol.

I'm on that same path Stella, so I hope it's doable. I'm SL and I bun EVERY day!! It seems that my hair is growing in width (thickness!) and not in length. We'll see what happens if I can make this a 6 month stretch. Two months down, four to go!!!
