Hey ladies,

I workout everyday and I sweat something bad in my head. I was wondering if it is good to COW everyday?

I cowash everyday. I don't like a dirty scalp. I wouldn't go exercise and not wash my body, so there is no way I'm going to get sweaty and not at least rinse my hair and scalp. My hair thrives on daily cowashing. However, YMMV. I don't use shampoo everyday, but some people have no problem with that either if the shampoo is very gentle and they condition/moisturize well.

What kind of conditioner do you use for COW? I use kera care humecto, but thats expensive and I dont want to use it everyday.

I work out almost everyday too. I conditioner rinse my hair everyday and sometimes rinse my hair at night if my workout has been exceptionally strenuous. I've had no problems and I've been doing this for almost a year and a half.

I use VO5 or Suave Natural for daily conditioner washes.

I go to the gym 3 times/week and I wash my hair on those days. I don't use regular shampoo because shampoo is too stripping and drying for my hair. Instead I use an Indian herbal hair wash which is a bunch of Indian hair herbs ground into a fine powder that I add water to and pour over my head, then scrub gently. I follow with a moisturizing conditioner. Before I found the herbal hair wash, I was co-washing on those days that I go to the gym and I found that it worked very well for my hair. It's a great way to get the drying, salty sweat rinsed out of your hair and keep it moisturized! I try to use as natural products as possible in my regimen so I alternate between two conditioners by Aubreys Organics, the White Camelia and the Honeysuckle Rose. They are about $10 a pop per bottle.

I co-wash everyday for years, I recently stop and only wash and deep condition twice weekly and I had 1" of growth last month and no shedding, now I don't know if I should contribute this to the only washing twice a week. But if I get and additional 1" this month I think I'll be continuing this routine.

I co wash daily with whatever conditioner happens to be around at the time. When I exercise, I use the gentlest shampoo I can find and dilute it before I apply it to my scalp.

It works for me. Or at the very least frequent rinsing and applying your product. I don't always do daily CO washes, but I never wait longer than 1 day in between. My hair is much more moisturized now.

I workout 5-6 days a week and I always at least rinse my hair, if not, I CW with suave, VO5, or JASON jojoba conditioner. I clarify once or every other week. My hair seems to like it.

ETA: I've found that wearing a sweat band (head band) and putting my hair up in a high ponytail helps to absorb a lot of the sweat....I doubt I'll be washing as often in the colder months!

I am using runnersworld.com training regimen. Because I was a beginner runner it helped me out tremendously. If you arent used to running they have a run/walk program that will have you running 2 miles in 30 minutes if you are faithful and use discipline. I will be runnning the mercedes marathon here in Birmingham, AL in Feburary and its my first one so I am nervous and excited. Thats why its very important for me to find a good hair regimen so I can grow grow grow while wearing a ponytail everyday because no other hairstyle will stay with the way I sweat!

That's alot of manipulation, but I think you have to get the sweat out. It's salty. Sounds drying.

I'm running 2 miles in under thirty minutes, but I'm no where near marathon ready!
I'd like to just be able to run a 5k at this point! Good luck on your marathon. :)
Have you tried box braids? (Crown & glory method) you should be able to workout/CW wash regularly with those...

Or just CW with your hair in braids to cut down on the manipulation. :)
I agree with Sareca, the salt/sweat has to be rinsed.

You should look at runnersworld.com. Even if you dont actually run a 5k they will give you a training schedule to follow that will allow you to run it if you chose. http://www.runnersworld.com/cda/smartcoach/1,7148,s6-238-277-278-0-0-0-0-0,00.html#noRace
