Should I mix my indigo with my henna or apply the indigo after?

Gonna henna again tonight. I have used it once and it made my hair dry but didnt do anything good or bad to my hair other than the dryness, which went away after I used a DC.

I want to know what your opinion is as far as using the indigo. My mom has been using the henna weekly and her hair likes it. But her hair is definitely red and I don't want that at all for myself. Should I mix the indigo in the henna or use the indigo after? I just don't want red hair or even light brown I like my hair black like it is naturally.

My henna pack is 100 grams and so is my indigo pack. What is the ratio that I should use if I chose to mix them together?

If I apply the indigo after henna, do I have to let the indigo sit overnight for the dye to release? How much water should I put in the indigo mixture? Do I let my hair dry all the way before using the indigo?

Sorry if these questions seem silly, I'm just doing my research :)

Thank you

If you want jet black hair, you have to do a two step. First henna then indigo. Mixing the two will result in brown hair. (Henna alone will make the hair red or add red highlights).
How much you need will depend on the length of your hair. It is safe to say if you need to use 100g of henna for your hair, then you should use 100g of indigo.
Indigo does not need to sit in order to release. However some "experts" will say let the indigo sit no longer than an hour. Some will say use the indigo right away. In any case, indigo has a very short shelf life and cannot be kept for long periods once mixed like henna.

What I do is henna my hair for several hours. When I am ready to rinse the henna out, that is when I mix my indigo with hot water from the tap (just enough until it has a yogurt like consistency) and let it sit until I'm done rinsing my hair. I apply the indigo immediately after rinsing the henna. I leave it on for at least an hour. I get jet black hair every single time (including great gray hair coverage).

It is a good idea to add about 1 tbs of salt to your indigo to help it stick to your strands.

I've been doing henna and indigo for over five years with great results.
