I've got some shedding going on. Every winter this happens. Anyone else battling the same stuff and if so, what are you doing to stop it?

I read a thread on adding garlic to conditioner and I have been trying it. I think it helps. I only use it when I know I will be home for 24 hours to let my hair air out from the smell.

Or, you could not worry too much about it. Your hair is going to shed, and on average hair sheds 50-150 hairs per day. A week's time could lead to up to 1,000 shed hairs. Some people, like yourself--and me--shed more during a particular time of the year. I'm a serious winter shedder as well, regardless of how much I deep condition or give it protein or whatever. I do add garlic oil to my DCs to help prevent excessive shedding, but I don't even know what that is. In the summer I don't shed at all. I just consider this hair's natural cycle.

This time of year my hair sheds AND breaks. I'm going to DC and braid it up so I can wig it the rest of the winter.

For the first time ever my hair is shedding. I think I freak out more cuz my hair is long and seeing those long hairs in the tub drain scares me.

For right now I'm avoiding curly/wet styles like crazy. I just rollerset my hair and that helps tremendously. This weekend I'm going to do a protein treatment and put some gr
garlic in my conditioner.

I read some where on LHCF that the hair goes threw 3 cycles ( I will try to find it and post, :think:if not the actual thread then a research link)

I have finally accepted that my hair is in the "shedding" phase and i was so nervous about all the shedding  so I decided to go garlic crazy :lachen:
It helped a bit, I learned to :kissing4: embrace it and know that this will not last forever. I have been seen a great amount of growth, so I can not complain!!

Anywho, shedding in the winter is common (at least in my opinion), so I decided to do what ILuvsmuhgrass is doing...braiding and wigs for the winter, until April or May of 20TEN!!

I wish you all healthy hair and:

HHG!!!!!

I'm going through the winter shedding too. I think less manipulation is they key as well as maintaining a moisture/protein balance in my hair.

HHG!

Yep, for the first time ever I'm noticing winter shedding as well. I am looking for a style that will keep my hair detangled so I won't pull out so much hair in the shower. I'm thinking weekly braids...

I noticed this as well and getting a little disturbed. I guess I never really noticed it before until I started this journey. I was in the beauty supply store today and noticed that Queen Helene makes a garlic shampoo and conditioner. I'm thinking about going back and purchasing those. I want to get some braids but I'm too lazy to do them and I too cheap to pay for them. Might as well get the laziness out of my system.

I'm taking garlic once a day, hair is still shedding i'm using Mega tek, i've noticed it more as my hair has not been in braids or a weave as it normally is at this time of year.

Hair is going to shed so i'm not worried about it, breakage freaks me out though!

Try Coffee Rinsing, it curtails shedding in it's tracks. Simply brew a pot of coffee and pour it over your hair/scalp. You can rinse it after 30 minutes or use as a leave-in. You can also buy a cup from your local coffee shop and use it at home.

This is a miraculous aid. I wish I'd discovered it sooner. It also helps with detangling.

This is true, hair does shed; however, since I started using garlic oil/conditioner my shedding is minimal. See previous comment:

Blackcardinal I think ur right. I'm gonna do it and document my use with pics that I'll be sure to share.

Renewmetoo I know you wanted a review for ECHOS LINE ECHOS HERB, however, I wanted you to see some results from Alter Ego.

I've been using the product for just a little over 3 weeks. This is about how much shed hair was lost fom January to now (3 weeks ago) (I generally had this - plus half after I rinsed my final conditioner).
