My daughter thought they were cute, until I was leaving to meet a male friend for dinner, then she said, "are you going with your hair like that"?!!!

Good for you. Been there, done that, bought a few T-shirts. Only I don't think anyone would've confused me with Pocahontas. I was called Pippi Longstocking but even she would have been offended. It was not cute. The idea was though, IMO...only it kinda backfired. Still I wore it with pride all day, and by COB, I had everyone fooled into thinking it was cute.

I did have better results the next time I tried it but I have no hesitation pulling off any hairdo I feel like pulling off.

I have worn braided pigtails a la Pocahontus (but looks more like Pipi on me too) for the week end, but I'm a middle school teacher and I don't think my students would know how to act if I rolled up in here with ponies (unless it's Halloween of course).

I rock two pigtails all the time. I remember, just recently, when I was at the mall those annoying cell phone vendors kept trying to get my attention. Then one vendor had the nerve to call out "Pokahontas! Hey, Pokahontas come here!" .I wanted to believe that he was talking to the little girl in front of me who was also wearing pigtails similar to mine, but I doubt he'd try to sell her a cell phone . Anyway, keep rockin' those pigtails. I see women way older than I am with very long hair wearing their hair in pigtails from time to time, and I never think it looks strange.
