I need to buy a iron, so I thought a poll would be the easiest way for ppl to suggest, which I should buy. Comments are also needed about which you have and use, thank you.

Hi: Someone recently did a similar poll--I'll post it for you below & I hope it helps.

I really like the CHI, but after hearing the raves about Maxiglide & seeing the infomercial/demo, I may check that one out as well, because it looked as though it did a thorough job straightening the hair.

I took my nappy-headed self down to the mall one day after work and brought a CHI in a panic, after having used a T3 and my hair frizzing up: the CHI was a big improvement over that and when I use it with the right serum it really looks nice.

I bought my maxiglide last month, and think I found my new love.....Very rarely do I use heat, but I got rid of all my cheap-o flat irons after one use of my maxiglide.....It left my hair shiny, soft, and bouncy afterways.

I have a maxi glide that I rarely use but when I do use it, It leaves my hair smelling burnt...I have come to the conclusion that I am not using the right heat protectant. I have Vo5 mist...I'm going to purchase some more protectants and see what happens BUT overall the maxiglide is an excellent flat iron:grin:

I have had my CHI irons for 2 years. They have been dropped soooo many times and they still work like brand new. I wouldn't trade them for the world. They make my hair feel like heaven everytime I use them. NOT at all bulky and gets your hair EXTREMELY straight. Perfect when stretching a relaxer, the best hair investment i ever made!

*I want another iron, a 1 inch flatiron, maxi is 2 inches*

There isn't a temp control on CHI irons, which for some people is a bad thing. But I figure if you have a good heat protectant that shouldn't be a problem. I use Nexxus heat protexx, but I'm thinking about getting another kind.

proud mommy of a sedu here! it tames my wild airdried hair (proof in my album) and is so small. it's an investment!

I love my Sedu, my sister has a CHI and I was very unimpressed with it. Go to folica.com and read the reviews about the sedu, that really convinced me to buy it!

I'm debating whether to purchase a Chi or a Sedu. I want a 1-1/2" or 2" flat iron.

Go with the Sedu!! The CHI does a decent job(I used my sisters today), hers does not have heat control option, I am not sure if there are other CHI's that do. I hated it the first time I used it, but it did the job for me today.

BUT, the Sedu will leave your hair soooo silky, and it's reliable I have had mine 2.5 years and it is still going strong. I have a 1'', and I am very happy with my purchase. Let us know what you decide!!

The one I have doesn't have a heat control option either, but I love it. I know I don't need another flat iron, but I do want one. Yeah, I'm greedy. Hairlove has also said great things about the Sedu flat iron.

I've never used Sedu, but I have owned both Chi and Maxiglide. I hated the Chi and love the Maxiglide. :yep:

I'd choose neither. I read all the reviews for the Sedu, Chi, and Solia on folica.com and decided that the Solia was best. However, if you do choose between the Sedu, Chi, or Maxiglide, I'd go with the Chi.

I am a solia owner, but it didn't get my hair strait. Is it because my hair is short, that I couldn't get my hair strait?

What size Solia did you get? And what temp do you put it on? I think the smallest one they offer is the 3/4" and it's supposed to be ideal for straightening short hair.

from what i've read, it seems that most ladies with natural hair prefer the maxiglide

The maxiglide doesn't get hot enough for me. I have the CHI turbo and it does a good job. I've had it 3 years and it's still working fine. I would prefer something thinner though.

I can't really speak to the chi or maxiglide, but I have the 1.5 inch sedu and I really like the results that I get with it. I have been on a rollersetting roll for the last few months, but if I feel the need to flatiron, I would definitely turn to my sedu. It heats up in about 25 seconds, it has adjustable temperature so you don't have to always use on high heat, it has very smooth plates that do not snag hair. I keeper. Looking back, if I had to make the choice again to purchase a flatiron I would buy the 1 inch sedu, its smaller and would appear to give more control when trying to straigten the roots.

YUP-I was initially persuaded to try a T3 b/c Chi did not have a temperature control. However, with my natural 3b-3c hair, the T3 didn't do the job so I wound up getting a CHI and it was a tremendous improvement....
