Hi Ladies,

Just wondering if you received more hair retention with a seamless comb? What are the main benefits YOU got with the seamless comb, did you truly see a difference? Lastly was their anything you noticed differently the very 1st time you used your come, weeks later, months later.

I just got one, Hercules contouring I believe it's called. One side has wide tooth and other side has more of a fine tooth.

Thanks in advance

Huge, huge difference. No more mid-shaft splits, and my breakage is minimal to none. The benefits appeared over time - it's not necessarily an immediate difference sort of thing.

I think they are a must for anyone who wants to grow long hair. More important than any product. Seamed combs will shred your hair to pieces causing your work to go to waste!

I have the Magic Star Rake, absolutely love it, best hair investment ever. :yep:

Thanks for your reply, I never considered the mindshare breaks, which I've been experiencing more the longer my hair gets. So this will be helpful.

I found the one I order, I was debating with this and the one you posted. If this goes well maybe I'll order another.

Thanks again

The Magic Star large Rake comb COMPLETELY changed my hair game. It's the only comb my hair respects, and since I've had it I know that I've got to adjust my technique cause I know my tool is flawless, I freak out whenever I think I've misplaced it and I take it just about everywhere with me, yes, it's that serious :). Plus, it's stopped me from spending any further money on combs, I've found my holy grail. Nothing, I repeat NOTHING preforms like this comb as far as I'm concerned.

VK1K as far as as I know they don't sell them in stores in the US, the best place I've found to get HS combs are hotcombs.com, they're a top notch company with great customer service.

Another vote for the Hercules combs. Love my Magic Stars. I use the jumbo on me and the mini on my daughter.

Hannah, how long have you been using your seamless comb, which one do you have?

Thanks everyone for sharing, sounds like my next comb purchase is the jumbo magic star

jilbere combs you can get at sally's or any beauty supply store for that matter

Sally's also now sells a SiliComb or something like that. They only have the smaller sizes though. I bought two, the fine tooth and the next size up.

I have the hair sense combs which I'm not too crazy about. Have just been too cheap to buy the Magic Star. Maybe I will get it when I reach a length goal :ohwell:

i only have 1 comb. a rat tail comb. i switched to a wide toothed seamless version and i notice less hair after i detangled my hair.

Onhergrind09...Your hair respects the magic rake. I guess if you have a lot of hair, it will punk out the average comb and just laugh at it!! Your hair looks great!!

^^^I don't think jilbere combs are seamless. I checked them out at Sallys before and there are definitely seams there, altho really slim.

I got my seamless comb this past Black Friday so I've only had it a month but I really do love it. It does seem to be much gentler on my hair and does a better job detangling it than other wide-tooth combs I own. I would definitely replace if I ever lose it. It's worth the investment.

VK1K I've been using Mason Pearson combs I got on sale for about a year and a half. It really hasn't done much difference imho.

I personally do not like the magic star rake comb. The teeth are waaaaaay too wide and wide apart. It did a poor job getting the shed hair out of my hair. It did an even worse job on my sisters' relaxed hair when they used to use it while they visited.
Also, it was very big and awkward to hold in my hand.
I now use a bone comb whose teeth are not as wide apart. It is much better at detangling and getting the shed hairs.
I do not notice a difference between using a seamless comb and a regular comb. I just have more peace of mind.

In early January, I got the magic star rake and lady star comb. The 1975 and 696 just got back in stock, so I ordered those, along with a magic star mini rake today.

I'll report back a full assessment of these combs after a couple of months, but so far I'm losing less hair when I detangle with magic star jumbo rake. I've looked at all my older/previous combs and you can feel and see the seems. I can't wait to receive the new ones.

How can you properly detangle with such a large spacing between the teeth? My curls and coils are too small to be fazed by the mini rakes at hot combs

I'm 4b, I use the big boy as the first stage especially if I've worn a style that needs some serious detangling. It gets out the big tangles and can remove some percentage of the shed hair. If I won't further detangling then I use smaller combs depending on what style I am going for.

I think you match the comb to what needs to be done. I don't always need the big one but sometimes I do. If I wear finger coils, I definitely use the big one. But this week I wore flat twists, so I started with my medium size.

I am thinking as my hair gets longer I may use the jumbo more.

I have 7 of the Hercules combs and I use them all for different things. I have the jumbo rake and the magic star rake set, I like the jumbo rake, I love the magic star mini rake but I find the magic star jumbo rake a little awkward to use.

I think I'm losing less hair whilst detangling since using the seamless combs, it also gives me comfort in regards to the health of my hair. I've added 6 more of these combs to my basket but I'm waiting for a sale before I purchase, I shouldn't need to buy another comb ever again after this.

Angel of the North, how often do they have sales? I know I missed the Black Friday and Holiday sales. It would be great I didn't have to wait to the holidays to build-up the rest of my collection. My recent purchases have put a dent in my hair supply/tool budget. You're right once I build up my collection, I should never have to purchase another comb again.

I love my Bone Combs from Hair Sense. I do love them. Makes everything easier. Will always replace them.

I have definitely seen a benefit from using them. I was 'gifted' 2 and liked them so much, I bought 2 or 3 more.

Another vote for the majik star rake....I use it as the first step in detangling and then use the lady star next as part of the HS recommended 3 step process

Another vote for the Magic Star (5660). This is the first comb I use. After that I use the 5580. Next the 1975. to part my hair I use the 500 WWR. However, I also have some of the bone combs from Hair Sense. Both brands are great.

I have a Magic Star Rake and several combs from Hair Sense and Hercules. Seamless combs is a must to minimize breakage/increase retention and de-shed the hair easier. I won't be without them going forward.
